As far as I am aware Ancelotti has always worked with a DoF , as have nearly all the top continental managers.
He isn’t the type of manager to spend time searching scout reports for the right player , that’s the DoFs job.
Plus , no way we are allowing any manager an open cheque book to bring in a bunch of ageing superstars for short term gain and long term bankruptcy.
Marcel Brands will remain very much in control , that’s why he is also on the board.

Also another reason why he is no 1 choice - he won’t rock the boat like Moyes would.

I've thought for a while that Brands days are numbered.

We certainly can't have him doing what he done last summer if we get Carlo.

Result aside, that United team were far from convincing yesterday. They are young and although they had good results of late they look raw and gutless at times. We gave them too much respect.

For us to nick a draw at OT with 1) the players we had on offer with all the injuries and 2) them being in form and 3) our away form, was nothing short of miraculous to be fair. Should we have played a 1970s Ajax style given these circumstances? The time to grind out points is now

Holgate was capable in midfield but I can't understand why anyone would think he would hold up if we were asking him to actually distribute the ball and try to play it forward on the ground. That would have been daft.
