Player Valuation: £60m
Never heard of him, and its probably complete Bullshi* but according to The Sun....

EVERTON are vying with Real Mallorca and Real Zaragoza for Spanish defender Marc Torrejon.

David Moyes is ready to pay £1.5million to the 23-year-old's club Espanyol.

Do the papers think we only sign defenders or what? :dodgy:

Cheap CB cover with Euro experience by the sounds of it. You could see this sort of a link appearing as soon as Moyes said we were looking for some squad bodies for Europe. 10 caps for Spain's U21 too.

Everton prepare move for Espanyol defender Marc Torrejon

Last season, Torrejon played just six games as his campaign was decimated by injury. He picked up a left ankle injury in August 2008 and did not return to action until December.

In total he made just six appearances and was also sent off last February in a 1-1 draw with Getafe. He failed to become first choice on his return from injury and with his contract running down is almost certain to leave Espanyol in the coming weeks.

Despite his travails last season, Torrejon is highly-rated by scouts in Spain who describe him as "really good in the air. He knows when to pass and when to dribble. Sometimes he can make surprising mistakes, but he's still young and a very serious hard working player. He is very strong as a central defender, but his technique allows him to play on the flanks as well if needed."

Torrejon was part of the Espanyol first team that reached the UEFA Cup final in 2006/2007, sadly he is most remembered for missing the decisive penalty in the penalty shoot-out with Sevilla in the final.

HELL NO

I trust Moyes if it's true.

We need more bodies of a minimum requirement quality at an affordable price.
We do not have too many fit centre halves for the start of the Premier and Europa.

Agree with the above. Extra body at an affordable price.

Amazed no one has linked this rumour with Lescotts 'impending departure'

Espanyol sources confirmed to skysports.com that a move to Everton would have represented a better deal for them, but the player turned his back on a chance to play in the Premier League.
