in fairness to him he has had to compete with Higuaín for a place. When he's come off the bench he seems to have done a job. He's got to be better than Kone as an option.

Will probably sing a contract extension now I've said that.

The season he had two years ago on loan when he started he banged in 17 (15 in the league) - at Napoli he's lucky if he gets 10 minutes when they take Higuain off to rest him - so no shock his numbers are way down (lad only played 980 minutes in about 25 games)

I think his goal scoring record looks like it does because he didnt play very much. Most people see "Ah, he played 23 matches", but in reality he was a 20 minute sub in most. In fact, he scored 5 goals and had 3 assists in 544 minuntes of Serie A. His total scoring record was 9 goals, a goal every 110 minutes he played.

Its also probably why many people watching Napoli didnt notice him as much. So the downside is he wasnt a starter. The upside is he was 5th in Serie A in goals per 90 minutes, and second among those who played more than 15 matches. Great potential, but obviously a risk.

I posted a whilst back his goals per 90 minutes - it's considerably higher than Lukaku for example over the past 2 years (and a similar age - could argue that Lukaku 'should' be more developed as he's been playing more at an earleir age

I've never seen him play so I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert but it would be tough to rack up a good goalscoring record coming off the bench for 10-20 minutes at a time. He averaged a goal every 100 minutes or so for Napoli across all competitions last season which is a very nice return. About one in 120 minutes the season before. Seems like there's something there.

But like I said I'm just going off raw numbers, no idea on quality here.

Compare those stats to most forwards and they hold up well mate

For sure, I'm not holding being stuck behind the top goalscorer in Serie A in the last 75 years (or whatever) against him. There are maybe three players in the world where that wouldn't be true.

I know literally nothing about this lad.

What I do know is that he seems to be highly rated by Italian football fans.

But will whatever talents he undoubtedly has translate over to our league?

Remains to be seen but I shall quietly hope that this signing (if it happens) will be huge for us.

What I'm thinking is, why are they demanding €25m for a substitute?

Give me one credible English reporter to chime in on this. He hasn't even been mentioned as a possibility anywhere except Italian Twitter--other than that Mail article yesterday that I think was also simply referencing the same Italian reports. I'm not saying there isn't something here, but why haven't we heard a peep from Joyce/Hunter/King or the others?
