Manifesto

Its very quiet for a supposed transformation of the club.

So far we've heard that our top players wont be sold and then Stones goes and we only spend his transfer fee.
Yeah true. I was talking more of the new ground. Just being cautiously optimistic really. I mean, Kings dock, Kirkby, WHP, all touted then binned. Praying there's something in it as being Everton, we've normally heard bad news by now....

Following on from @davek posting numerous times about Moshiri not issuing statements to the fans via the club and @The Esk 's thread about communication, I think the club should release a 'manifesto' to the fan base.

This should highlight the club, our history, where we are today in the community etc and should highlight our standing in the game as the 4th most successful side in England and one of the football leagues founding members, also of course play on 'The Peoples Club' tagline.

Secondly, it should also highlight, in full, the aims of the Board to build a new stadium and openly show the progress which has been made so far and what we aim to achieve going forward. Major structural changes and aims for the growth of the club as a whole going forward.

These aims should also spread in smaller detail, to the playing staff, ongoing transfer approach and include the team we are building in the backroom.

In the summer our name must have been circulated all over Europe, mostly through the Witsel saga and also news of large bids for Koulibaly etc. Although these moves ended in failure, our name was out there as a club looking to buy and make serious moves in the market.

Surely by issuing a manifesto to the fans we, as a fanbase would be more positive with the new regime. Additionally, sponsors may 'buy-in' to the new ethos which additionally creates new revenue streams.

Although EITC seem to be making great strides, as a club we need to do much more. We need to motivate the fan base, increase sponsor/advertising/marketing interests which all stems from.a manifesto to increase interest. On the playing side, publicise an ethos where players will have us on a list of desirable clubs to join, Martinez and Moyes both claimed we were a club which gave young players a chance--we should broadcast this or whatever our new management plan on doing.

I'm not sure why we haven't done this already...

If Jerry McGuire could do it overnight...

I think it's a good idea in principle. But I'm not sure in practice. It would be a huge stick to beat the club with the more lofty it was, and the less that was achieved.

If it was done, I would make it limited to the business aspects only - we could see big increases in revenue without having a tangible effect on results and league placings, that's the reality.

Nothing can take the place of concrete action, and verifiable results, be that on the pitch or off it.

With my career background, I also fully believe in the idea that you cannot analyse anything properly without measuring it.

There should be targets for everything that moves at the club - from league placings to commercial revenue to season-ticket sales and twitter followers. More importantly, someone has to be held to account for each metric, and stand or fall by the results.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't/can't see a culture at the club presently that demands continuous improvement in every aspect of our operation, sets targets for improvement, and holds people accountable. It can't see how this is true given our dire commercial performance in particular.

More often that not, you have to change people to change culture. This is why I'm so concerned at the continuing presence of Kenwright and Elstone, and the addition of Harris to the board. Where is the zeal, the hunger, the business nous, the clarity of purpose amongst that lot? I don't see it currently.

I was mostly impressed with the clarity and brevity of Moshiri's responses in the recent interview. In comparison to BK and RE, he was off the scale in these qualities. His priorities were manifest (pardon the pun) in clearing the debt and addressing the stadium issue, that was clear. We badly need more people of a hardened, professional ilk, used to success, to leading successful teams and operations, and with a proven track record of delivery.

The board looks amateur. Only one business mind has been appointed with that being Sasha the Russian with zero experience in football...

Id be keen to know whose responsible for signing Bolasie for £25mil and bidding £30mil for Sissoko.
Going from Moshiri's interview, I would have thought it was Koeman. It could have been much worse if we'd got the both of them like. It's something that's annoyed me for a while, doing last minute business all the time. We've bought a turkey and dodged a bullet...not great business.

lol good analogy that.

Imagine if we had signed sissoko, biggest ever transfer for a total donkey...as it is, Bolasie could hold that title.

Mind blowing really, cant believe as a dutch manager he didnt have any targets in holland and instead slated the league and mentality of players there...some good players over there who are better than what we have.

As for the 'getting to know the players' malarkey he should know alot about them already having managed a competitor for 2 seasons.

I really hope walsh holds the purse strings.

It took a while, but you finally managed to shoehorn your hatred of Koeman and your enduring fascination with continental teenagers into the thread.

As for this manifesto suggestion... talkers talk, but talking and doing are two different things. Quite frankly the "absence" of a wide-ranging and definitive document outlining every step that the club plans to take as a business over the next few months is NOT a concern - I'd be very worried however if any such thing were made public.
