A Kazakh artist who was born without arms says that he could not get permission to enter the UK last month because he could not give fingerprints.

Karipbek Kuyukov planned to attend an anti-nuclear conference in Edinburgh.

But he got a letter from the British Consulate in Istanbul saying his "biometrics were of poor quality" and asking him to resubmit his application.
The UK Home Office said his visa was not refused and it may have been the result of a "miscommunication".
Mr Kuyukov, 44, who was forced to cancel his attendance at the conference, spoke of his disappointment.

"Maybe they did not understand that I am disabled or check the information provided," said the artist.
"But in my online visa application it was written that I am an artist and that I don't have hands. I paint by holding a brush in my mouth and between my toes."
Mr Kuyukov was born in the region of Semipalatinsk, the former Soviet Union's main nuclear testing ground.
Many thousands of children were born with disabilities during the nuclear test programme.
Mr Kuyukov has used his painting to campaign for nuclear disarmament for the past 20 years.

He was harmless really.

keep these anti nuclear clowns away from here, North Korea and Iran getting touchy and these Liberal clowns are trying to get rid of the one thing that will deter them jesus man

Lol..

North Korea's missiles couldn't even touch Britain.

its naïve to think these countries wont continue to develop their weaponry over time. The Cold War gave us one of the most valuable lessons in history that M.A.D is vital in keeping a balance of power and brings much greater peace than a bunch of Nick Cleggs sat round a table trying to negotiate with a tyrant

And it's also naive to think that North Korean missiles will ever land on British soil.

Even if we didn't have nuclear weapons, we're a part of the EU with other nations who do, along with the US, who would happily bomb the s***e out of that hellhole given half the chance.

lumping our national security onto other countries is a disaster waiting to happen, too many variables that can go wrong down the line what happens should we leave the EU? or us and the states one day don't see eye to eye? Having nuclear weapons keeps us safe.

Should we all give up our nukes apart from regimes then M.A.D ceases to exist and that's where we are screwed

Fairly sure "Jesus man" would be against nukes.

The problem with these crazy dictators is that they are crazy. When you have that level of power you tend to start to believe your own BS. The US, UK and allies don't need nukes to wipe out N. Korea -- sure it'd be cheaper and quicker but we have enough regular bombs to flatten the entire country 100 times over (and regular bombs wouldn't fallout onto S. Korea and surrounding areas).

Nukes are not the one thing to deter a situation like N. Korea. Either he's insane (in which case he probably doesn't care if seal team six, a drone, a bunker buster or a nuke takes him out) or he's sane (and he isn't going to do anything but sabre rattle because he knows it would end badly regardless of nukes).

In truth the US probably loves Kim Jong-un. Get everyone riled up so they can continue to justify the insane amount of money they pour into the military industrial complex because of how many "dangerous" people there are out there. Meanwhile the only people Kim Jong-un is any genuine threat to are his own citizens and he will continue to starve them even if he apologized and pledged to never threaten the west again.

Fairly sure the people starving to death who have never had a chance at a democratic system don't deserve to be horrible murdered because of that moron. Nor does anyone in surrounding areas deserve to get sick from fallout. We aren't going to nuke N. Korea and they know that. So why keep up the charade? Countries are either too small to nuke (we could beat them without it) or too big (they'd get us just as good as we get them).
