The scoreline flattered us but I think we deserved to win. Maybe 2-0 or 2-1 would have been a more fair score as we lacked ruthlessness before he last 10 mins to put the game to bed.

I think you guys seriously lack pace. Siggurdson other than FKs offers nothing. Great to see Wazza still having quality and great to see him get the deserved reception at OT. Not really sure about your defence with Keane and Williams seem a bit error prone especially in passing.

I thought you guys played well but tbh I didn't really think that Rooney shot aside, de gea did anything extraordinary (maybe I'm just used to seeing him regularly pull off impossible saves for 4 years now)

...first of all let me apologise for putting the mockers on Williams just before he mucked up for their 2nd goal. I have always had a problem with premature evaluation.

Despite the error, I'm still going for Williams because he handled Lukaku well and made a number of crucial interceptions and tackles. I thought Martina also played well. Both deservedly have their critics, but credit where credit is due.

I was a bit more encouraged today despite the scoreline. I think our problem is we have too many players of the same ilk and we need other types to give us more blend. Like the Davies shouts, thought he was impressive. Rooney less so, I thought he was wasteful and didn't exploit some promising situations. Sigurdsson disappoints but I'm sure we are not playing to his strengths.

Season starts from here.

It does mate, but in reality we have no choice other than to think that way, and act that way. Need to start scoring and need a win badly.

I thought Williams had a great game until the last ten minutes - I really liked his attitude (which is what we need) and he handled Lukaku very well. Cuco also had a pretty good game, looked a bit better defensively too. Davies MOTM for me though. Overall we played pretty well - it still ended in a 4-0 loss (undeserved) but a decent performance is better than nothing after the last couple of weeks or so.

Gave it to Rooney. We only got into the game when he settled and started taking control. He worked well with a much improved Davies. Davies will learn a lot from him. We lost cohesiveness when Rooney's legs went. It was then just a matter of time, as we fell apart searching for a goal, and leaving our generous defence to hand it to them on a plate.
For them, first goal was a one in a million fluke (-reminiscent of Kane's last week). Williams was an accident waiting to happen, and it did. Lukaku's was a case of being in right place at the right time (what a good striker does), hated his classless celebration. Williams was an accident waiting to happen, and it did. The penalty looked like unintentional handball. Whatever, I am being biased and clutching at straws.
Overall, we were better but still bad. It was an improvement over the last three games, but then, that wouldn't take much. Still a long way to go, and the way we perform against "lesser" teams will reveal where we are at.
Confidence from the players and us fans will only come with good performances resulting in wins. Wins require goals, and nobody can say where these are going to come from.

Good read, but sorry mate if they get some semblance of pride out of that then they shouldn't be wearing the shirt.

Who actually cares about 70 minutes of playing well if it's sandwiched between an appalling start and an atrocious and shambolic collapse at the end.

In comparison to the shambles that was Thursday vs Atalanta, they seemed to play with more pride.

I wasn't suggesting that all was rosy, but to me at least there was some sign of improvement... think RoKo got his changes wrong, I'd have taken Schneiderlin off, not Davies... struggling to see exactly what role Schneiderlin is primarily used for ?
