I agree with all of them and would add Kone.
I also don't think Atsu or Lennon are ideal long term and need replacing.
He also needs to look at the under 21s and make some decisions, can't just keep loaning them out forever.
I expect Mirallas will leave and I'd be tempted to cash in on Baines while he still has value as we have Garbutt and Oviedo as cover there.
Think Stones, Garbutt and Browning will become 1st team regulars next season. Will need to find quality wide men with a bit of pace.

That won't matter mate if he persists with 2 def' mids in a 4-2-3-1. If we are talking about proper wingers that hug the touch line, beat their man, provide quality crosses, and track back to maintain solidity of shape; then a 4-4-2 will accommodate that. This is the best set up for Rom in any case. I would argue that we have only McGeady/Lennon who is any where near that type of player - Kev is more of a fwd. Atsu havnt seen enough of him yet.

4-2-3-1 is counter attck system where the '3' have licence to do what the [Poor language removed] they like when the team is attacking, but the best exponents of it have top quality players....

Martinez should be told now what cash he can expect this summer so he can plan the outgoings. This season he knows he made a massive mistake in retaining players he should have got rid of. He cant make that error again. I'd like to see a lot of players coming into the club and promotion of players we have already.

Hands up: Garbutt is the future at LB not Baines. He needs signing quickly. He's not brilliant, but he's better than Baines right now. The likes of Ledson and Long need their chances handed to them. Browning looks ok and should be given more game time too. No idea about Galloway, but let's hand him an opportunity pre-season. Robles needs to be promoted to GK #1 and a deputy for him found (or other way around).

Players we need rid of: Howard, Pienaar, Alcarez, Distin, Hibbert, Kone.
Players I wouldn't much care if we let go: Barry, McGeady, Jagileka, Mirallas, Naismith.

(All those in bold I expect to be gone for one reason or another this summer).

Probably all correct in that article. However, I have not got much faith in Roberto's eye for a player to replace these if he did get shut of them. He chose to bring Alcaraz, Kone and Robles and I'm afraid they all appear dodgy to me.

Alcaraz is simply not good enough. Kone is def not worth £6m. Robles was improving during Howard's absence but still did not inspire confidence in those around him.

All these decisions made by RM - they look like sentiment to me.

I much prefer a passing game to Moyes' brand of percentage football but at least DM could pick a latent talent and develop it. Martinez doesn't have that capability.

It's all down to RM's ability to learn and adapt. I said exactly the same thing about Moyes after we froze 1-0 up against Liverpool in the FA Cup semi and lost - he sent them out scared and jittery and the inevitable followed. Moyes wouldn't adapt.

Can RM change his spots? Not sure but am very scared that the answer is a resounding 'no' just as it was for Moyes.

Howard, Hibbert, Pienaar, Distin, McGeady, Barry, Alcaraz - and send Atsu packing (probably Lennon at the asking price as well).

Only Pienaar - if he ever recovers his fitness - is worthy of a place in the squad.

Robles (or better), Coleman, Jags, Stones, Baines, Mirallas (if staying), Naismith, Barkley, Gibson, Osman (for now), McCarthy, Besic, Kone (maybe), Lukaku, Oviedo (perhaps), Garbutt, Pienaar (maybe), 3-4 good signings and a few younger players.

.....might be wrong, but the likes of Howard, Barry, McGeady and Hibbert are not long into their current contracts. Not easy in those circumstances to move them on

After this season I can imagine Martinez having a big shape up so the article's probably not far off. We need rid of the dead wood in our squad - there's no way I'd have Hibbert instead of someone like Browning in the first team

....I agree with the sentiment, I was very surprised when Hibbert was awarded another contract. The only reason I can think of is his influence around FF but whilst it is important to have good characters it's a lot of money to pay for being a good fella.

When mentioning youngsters, though, they need to be ready for the step up.

I'd estimate that all but Distin on that list will be here next season.

Lol at us
It's worrying that you're probably correct, mainly because there each of those names has very little (if any) value where we can gain capital.

A new goalkeeper, two new centre halves, a defensive midfielder and two wide players of any quality will be expensive.

Even if we go for a second choice keeper, one good centre halve and one quality wide player, it will all be expenditure against very little income.

Do we have that much money? Will Martinez bring in the quality that we require to improve next season?

I'd bring him in as a coach if he was interested in doing so. As you said, he's a good character and clearly been a big part of a stable club for years - you need these kinds of people.

You're right though even if Browning is the same age as Stones, players take different time to develop

Players I'd get rid of:
Howard, Distin, Alcaraz, Lennon and Atsu also reluctantly Mirallas and Baines(as long as Garbutt signs his new contract).
We need:
Goalkeeper, Left Centre Back, Right Winger, Left Winger, Striker.

Why Baines?
What has he done to be binned?
Garbutt isn't a better player now and Baines stood with us and was loyal when clubs offered big contracts.
I'm all for signing up Garbs but don't see why that should means Baines leaving.

If we sold Baines we would get 10-15 million whereas Garbutt we would get maybe 5 million if we are lucky and probably a similiar figure for Oviedo. We can't keep 3 of them happy so one has to go. Realistically we'll get 2 or 3 more years out of Baines then his value will be completely gone whereas we could get 10 years out of Garbutt and maybe 8 years out of Oviedo. I agree Baines is our best left back at the moment but sometimes you have to allow a player to leave which in the short is detrimental but in the long term could work out better for the team. Next season we won't have European football so Garbutts opportunities will be limited if Baines stays.

Baines's game is based around intelligence and reading of the game, not his physical attributes. He can play at the top level for quite a few years yet.
For all that Garbutt has shown promise and attacking flair he has also shown he has distinct flaws to his game defensively. Positionally he gets caught out and doesn't really ever get close enough to attackers to snuff out and block balls into the box. Certainly not a complete player yet.
You don't sell your best players. If anyone goes Oviedo or Garbutt does. Besides I highly doubt we'd get 15 million given his age, so not enough to make it worthwhile selling him.
