As well as the Sky Sports link on newsnow, I've seen others mention Macnelly Torres coming to us on social media as well. I think someone also mentioned in the main transfer window thread that Colombia's biggest paper was running the story today.
I won't pretend to know anything about him, and I would be really surprised if anyone else on here had seen more than his YouTube clips & a few Colombia games (& checked out his FIFA/FM stats). However, Tim Vickery, BBC's South American expert, was raving about him on the World Football phone-in last week
Cons: He's 28 and has never been tested in Europe. No potential sell-on value & it's a big risk whether he would adjust abroad.
Pros: A classy No. 10 who plays intelligent through balls all day. Jelavic & his movement will love playing in front of him instead if chasing around Fellaini hoping for second balls. He has 30 caps for Colombia, South America's form team at the moment. He is just the sort of player who is vital to making Martinez's teams work (think Maloney's role last year). It could also help persuade Fellaini to stay one more year as he will know RM will not want to play him out of his favoured position of defensive/box-to-box midfielder. Torreshas a release clause of under two million, so need to sell to buy.
It's a yes from me. Ideally we should be looking to bring in younger players, but as an exception I could see this paying off, like when Bolton bought in a 28-year-old Jay Jay Okocha.
