I've not seen a team get this lucky for a long time; ref bottles a pen and arguable red, first goal is a deflection, second is a terrible opposition mistake and when they did get a pen they hit the bar! Pandev also had a goal ruled out, albeit correctly (handball). Beside's Cox having that goal ruled offside, everything's gone our way!

It's tense. Only the top of the group goes through, then the 2nd will be in the play-offs -- or if they're the top 2nd team across the quals they'll get through automatically.

As it stands, Ireland, Russia and Slovakia are all on the same amount of points. But Ireland are 3rd due to poorer head to head records. However they have Slovakia next... talk about a big game!

I'm going to stick my neck out and say we should beat them. They were woeful in the last world cup, and I'll never know how Vittek got 4.

Whether we will beat them is another thing entirely, but I firmly believe we have the better players.

Can't argue with that. I think that Weiss at rangers is useful and Vittek's a handful but, at home, you certainly should have enough about you. Actually you've got some kind fixtures coming up. I'll be shocked if you don't get six points from your last two games so it's just a case of hanging in there when you play the big boys in the next two.

Understand that all too well mate. Still from a neutrals point of view, most of the 'obvious' places you might slip up (away at slovakia, armenia and macedonia) you've got through.

I'd be shocked if you won in moscow mind but, with russia still having to travel to slovakia, you're not in a bad position at all.

Does anybody know how teams are seperated if same number of points at the end. I thought it was head to head but on sky sports and uefa website ireland are top due to better goal difference to Russia and Slovakia?

Seeing as we are top on UEFA.com, (that must be the actual table) it must go by goal difference, then goals scored then head to head. Because us and Russia both have +5 goal difference, but we have scored more, however, Russia have beaten us on head to head.
