Is he really? How can he possibly be one of our top earners? He hasn't done much to deserve that, especially at only 21 years old.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever personally known a 21 year old kid who could command a salary of 65k a year, let alone 65k a week!

We also only gave him a 4 year deal compared to Stones and Coleman's 5 years, which means less time until he renegotiates it. If I was guessing I'd say his agent had a pretty big hand in that deal.

From what I've seen this season and comparing it to the 'he's going to be ace' forecasts we have heard that many times already with many other previous prospects, and also then with the increase he is now demanding, then I would let him go.

His corners and crossing in some of the Europa League games were poor to say the least and his positioning was suspect a few times. I know he's young but there's too much what ifs with this guy and even if he does stay, whats the chances he won't start stamping his feet again in a year or two!

We don't need players who aren't even first team regulars (especially out of contract ones) demanding this that and the other after the season we have had.
There's a big difference. The next time he stamps his feet we will be in control of the situation.

That's what was reported. Barkley had only two years on his contract so we needed to protect our investment. Lukaku was given 70K and 5 year deal and Barkley after his breakout season was given 65K and 4 years. I thought it weird at the time that it wasn't longer but perhaps he was demanding more for a longer deal and Martinez wasn't 100%.

I think Barkley will come good but I'm not as confident about that as I was this time last year.

Luke shaw has been injury prone all season Garbutt has his build now all the sadistic remarks about him are a bit childish on here let's face it we may have lost a cracking future left back let's move on!

I am in agreement with you on your post Joey but feel we are shooting ourselves in the foot if Garbutt leaves. At his age he would be a class LFB for the many years in the future. Baines is coming to the end of being in top notch football only about 1 perhaps 2 years in him. RM talks of building around young players so have I missed something. Yes forgot about the young guns Kone, Barry!

If Luke goes we will come to rue this.

So Swansea offered him a contract.

Why would he leave for Swansea? They just gave Neil Taylor a new 4 year contract.
He played every league game for them last year I think and is only 26. Garbutt will have to compete for a place unless he signs for one of the promoted clubs.

Will be interesting to see how this develops but I think it will be a mistake on his part if he leaves. Though to be fair.... Goslings career has skyrocketed since leaving.

Spot on fans seem to think we are dumping him when imo its the other way round for whatever reason he is walking away lets see if he goes and how much we get I agree it maybe a loss we may regret!

Couldn't disagree more!!!!

Right lads. Are we going to get to the bottom of this or what?

Tell you what, I'll gather all of the papers, someone else scour the websites and we need someone with a convincing Martinez accent to ring his agent and get some info.

We WILL get to the bottom of this lads, we just need to put the hours in. It'll be worth it honest.

...couldn't we just wait for an announcement ? you know, maybe talk about something else. Maybe about a certain Barca winger who is electric or greedy depending on whether he signs or not.
