Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
After a poor start together, i think these two are really starting to gell. In the sunderland game the 1st 20mins they were getting ran all over the show by Bent & Jones. But they never got a sniff after that. They really looked the business yesterday.

I much prefere these two that Distan & Yobo at the back. Im not a fan at all of Yobo's (does anyone know if he's going the ANC or not?) I think special praise has to go to Neill for the way he's come into the team and is playing now.

Cant wait for Jags to get back, but it'll take months for him to be on his game again. But when all is fit we have great cover at CB..

Jags, Heitinger, Distan, Neill, Yobo. So theirs no need for Sendros as people are saying.

What do you think..?

I really like Johnny in the defensive midfield role when he has played there. I actually think our best pairing could be Jags and Distin.

But you are right Neill and Heitinga are starting to look a decent pairing.

Spot on.

Not only are they good defenders but there also accomplished footballers. Neill's good at bringing it forward and Heitinga can pick a pass from anywhere.

Very impressive, hopefully they can build on it.

I loved the way Johnny went on a little run from CB, when was the last time 1 of our CBs took the ball out of defence and ran with it. It was a joy to watch.

agree mate as i also do, overall they are starting to look promising

Both did well yesterday, but i still think our defence has problems, we are conceading to many and for a bit of luck yesterday we probably would have conceaded as well. Yesterday was our first clean sheet in 13 games in the league - thats not good enough really. We have had so many draws that could have been wins if we were strong at the back, the defence needs attention. That said Neville returning will make a difference and the team need defend better from front to back.

I think we need another centre back.

Jonny H is impressive, his distribution is fantastic im still trying to work out wheather CB or in beside Artea may be his ideal role.

I think we still need cover at centre back, I really don't rate Yobo. I quite like the look of Distin from what I've seen, but an extra body to replace Yobo would be good I reckon

A left back, wide right player, and a creative midfielder and I'll be happy :)

Ah crap that's four and Moyes said he's looking at 2 players for the transfer window, which in translation means zippo, none, zero. They'll use that magic maths of theirs again and count Donovan as 1, even though he was mentioned before the 'we'll bring in 2 more bodies speach', and Jo will probably be loan signing number 2, even though we already have him

bugger i'm grouchy today

Bit on the small side to be out and out centre halves arent they?

They’re doing great, their composure and distribution has been great. But I think there still gonna be a role for either Distin or Yobo when they're back to be fair. I think you need a big, athletic defender in there to go along side a smaller, compact defender as a partnership. Then there’s Jags to come back…

Neil and Heitinga are tidy, composed defenders and something we miss. But up against a big, tall, strong team like Stoke and even Chelsea (we did leak in 3 goals even though Heitinga wasn’t playing) you can see there’d be a problem when teams play direct.

It’s gonna be a headache for Moyes when players are fit. I prefer Heitinga as DM…but Neville’s back. Neil looked good a RB but he wouldn’t get a shout over Hibbo or even Neville and there’s Coleman too.

Its gonna be Jags and one other of…Heitinga, Yobo, Distin, Neil when fit. Who’d you pick?

I’d say Distin myself.

Heitinga looks comfortable on the ball, unlike Lescotts nervous disposition, and his distribution and running were good.

and considering they probably don't know each other that well, they did alright together. yeah Burnley had a few chances, but even the best defence in the world cannot stop everything. I was impressed. (y)

What a gay font.

Anyway I agree with what your saying, they are doing a decent job, but are no way suitable for the job full time. We would get found out far too easy.

At work on the sly posting mate.

You get what your're given. Gay, straight, lube, no-lube. You take it however its given to ye!

I don't think height matters to be honest, Johnny Heitinga has a Cahill esque leap and he's got a decent frame to go with it, he's certainly not someone who gets bullied. He didn't against Drobga, he didn't against Beattie and Fuller and I don't think he did against Jones and Bent, either. Granted, we conceded goals, but it wasn't because Neill and Heitinga where bullied or overpowered.

Jagielka also has a very good leap and is good in the air, he probably wins more headers than anyone else, his heads like a magnet at times.

I certainly wouldn't rule out a Jagielka-Heitinga partnership, nor would I write of Distin.
