As Digne is older, the chances of him kicking on and making significant improvements now are less likely

Also, we can ease Tierney into the first team over the season and gradually ease Baines out, which will be a smoother process then essentially kicking Baines to the curb as soon as Digne signs

Tierney is just the better option, which isn't to say Digne is bad of course, but the point stands

He's 25yrs old and still has plenty of time & room to improve as a player.

Tierney's ceiling may well be higher, but you're going overboard, as usual over a player from the SPL.

Baines has been one of my all time favourites. But his time as a first choice starter is up. I’m personally glad we’re signing this lad who hopefully will slot into the first team having played at a high level, rather than waiting on Tierney to bed in and get adjusted to playing competitive football week after week.

In this case, like with VVD, I will back Mikey up. Tierney is, I think, more than just a prospect. He is the real deal.

But, I'm not going to say I'm not happy with Digne, plus at the reported £16m fee (a few more in add ons) it's a bit of a no brainer.

Baines > Schneiderlin

Baines has never ever played defensive mid. It'd be interesting to see, but we're not just going to chuck him there now without trying him there at all in pre season.

When was the last time a Scottish player is the best in Europe I wondered. Digne is no mug, he has played for PSG, Roma and Beca and has 21 caps for France at the age of 25. He is a phenomenal signing.
