Support striker. Does about as much midfield work as rooney

Rooney does a lot of midfield work though. That's part of his game, tracking back, defending, helping to start moves.

In fact I'd say Rooney was a good example, but maybe not for the reason you intended!

Cahill has been playing as a proper striker in some games recently though, I'll give you that. He didn't used to, but from Sunderland onwards I think he has.

Time to get rid I think, his wage is too high to just leave him in the squad, especially with the way he's been this season.

I 'd ratther have two Strikers (Beckford & Yak) and Cahill playing behind to become 3rd striker...A defense would struggle with that..At the moment only have to deal with one striker in open play..and Cahill making runs in for crosses from Baines..You have to do your best to outnumber defenders and force the defenders hand...

Like I keep saying, he's cost us over £1.5 million in wages since his last goal. Maybe even £2 million now. We can't afford to pay that much to anyone, unless they're important to the team.

So I'd be happy to see him go, even for nothing, just to get him off that wage bill.

I'd like that too mate. I keep posting formations like that; Beckford and Yak up front, or Yak and Anichebe etc, with Cahill just behind. Or Cahill up front with Beckford, and Rodwell supporting.

Point being, Rooney is a striker. Drogba does the same. As does Tevez. Cahill's been a support striker/striker for about 2 seasons now.

When he goes to the Asia Cup, we'll see who plays behind the striker or if Moyes will play 2 strikers. I cant see it as Rodwell will probably play Cahill's role at that time and you'll probably see better link up play as Rodwell is a better midfielder than Cahill is IMO.

Yeah sounds good...Soon as Rodwell gets more match fitness , he's gonna be a real asset.

What I'd like to see, is that we get Vaughan back and pair him with Beckford during Cahill's absence. Really think it's a partnership that could work.

Pacey, Agressive and unpredictable.

I'm liking the thought of some aggression. Saha is currently making Jo look like Duncan Ferguson. Too many Mr Lover Men strollers in the team, we need to get ruthless and enforce.

Agree with Goat should have gone to Turkey when we had the chance.

Think of the context mate.

13 goals, our top scorer, we [Poor language removed] one because many a team are sniffing around him, he thankfully signs a deal, then BAM, a phenominal performance against Chelsea which kick started that giant killer thing we had going on for a bit.

Retrospect is a funny thing, i'd bite your hand off to get 8m for Saha now, but back then he was the only consistent threat we had up front.

Shows how pathetic we were, taking on an injury prone player living on past deeds. Yes put in some good games but not consistent and not fit.

A rumour of a lad who i work with, benfica are interested as there strikers arent firing and they have more european cash to come after getting into europa league by coming 3rd in champions league.

Cant find anything on newsnow about it.
