The fifth season will commence on January 21, 2009 with a three-hour premiere consisting of a clip-show and two back-to-back new episodes. The remainder of the season will air on Wednesdays at 9:00PM Eastern/8:00PM Central. According to Lindelof, the season "is about why [the people who have left the island] need to get back". Also, season five will feature significantly fewer flashbacks and flashforwards.

Cant wait, just started watching Season 1 again, im hoping to have re-watched all 4 seasons before the new 1 starts, but its going to mean a good few hours a day of watching it. I just dont think i can do it. :D, but im gonna give it a damn good go.
 

It's still well good. People complain about it not being as good as the first couple of seasons anymore, but it couldn't be because of the type of show it is. Jack back soon as well, whammy.
 
I love this programme! Slightly obsessed with it to be honest!

I watched every episode from season one to the season 4 finale over the xmas holiday and finished this morning. Cant wait till its back on.

The 1st few seasons still had the WoW factor, i mean as you say its that type of show and 1st watching it, your thinking WTF is going on. But i still think its going strong in my eyes, unlike other shows such as PrisonBreak which has turned pretty dire in my eyes.

Lost is great when im watching it no tv...but i wouldnt buy the dvd...its just not the type of show you watch over again...

..should be a good series...this is the final one isnt it? I remember the producer saying at series 1, that he has enough material to make 5 seasons.

...anyway Scrubs is also out in January for a new and final series.
 

In May 2007, it was announced that Lost would continue for its fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons, concluding with the 117th produced episode in May 2010. These three final seasons were planned to consist of 16 episodes each, running weekly in the spring uninterrupted by repeats. However, due to the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike, the fourth season was shortened to 14 episodes. To compensate, seasons five and six will each consist of seventeen episodes.

No, but they could have milked it a lot more, at least they have said it will end in 2 more seasons. I think its still pretty fresh and exciting.
