I like your thinking. When life kicks you in the balls it's good to fall back on memories of better times. Even if they have absolutely no relevance whatsoever to your present or future!!

so cana has signed for sunderland.

ever since robinho signed for city over chelsea football has taken a new twist.

money is the new rule in he game. scraped relegation? no problem

team in europe come in for me? f* them if they offer less than blooming sunderland~!

sunderland. omg. sunderland.

I thought we hadn't actually gone in for him at all and it was just rumour?

And aren't Sunderland the 6th most sucessful team in England or am i making that up?

Either way no need to be so hostile to the guy, he is admitting he wants Sunderland to be like Everton but they're not at the moment.

Shows ambition from Sunderland that they tried for players like Cana.

Sure they might have a bit of money to spend so are spending it, isn't that what people want Everton to be?

i knew for a facted we wouldnt be signing him or any other players we have been rumoured to be signing this summer. moyes plays to close to his chest when it comes to transfers. there was loads of rumoured players comeing in last season and we didnt sign one of them. CASTILLO NASH FALLAINI not one rumour mill had them down to sign for us

Reason has no place on this forum

nah, well put mate(y)

Let's be honest, there's a top four and then there's the rest of us.

I suppose by the text book definition then yes, over the last 15 years or so Sunderland have been a "yo yo" club. That doesn't mean that we can't try and improve, and/or sign quality players.
Not quite. There is a top4 yes, but there is a number of clubs that are more likely to battle for the european spots and, to be honest, you're not one of them.

I'd rather say that there are 3-4 groups in the PL.

1. The top 4
2. The prime contenders (Everton, Spurs, ManC, Villa)
3. The survivors (for a better word, the teams that usually place themselves around the middle to lower half)
4. The relegationfighters (usually the three teams coming up and one or two of the teams from the PL the previous season)

But you are right that any club have every right to bid for any player. It's up to the player to decide where he wants to play.

But to be honest with you.. I place Sunderland and Stoke in group 4. But anything can happen, I don't think many fans or experts predicted that Newcastle would go down last season for example.

Confirmed on safc's official site that he's signed for us.

Have to say I find some of the attitudes towards Sunderland among the minority on here to be both suprising and disappointing.

Fair enough we aren't at the level of Everton at this moment in time but we want to be and there's no reason why we can't be in a few years time. To have suggested we had no business bidding for Cana was a little disrespectful!!!!

Eh, did you post to gloat or just bugger the already irritated? Either way, success. No more business for you here, then?

Yeah, Cana was like "If Everton made a bid, I'd go there".

We evidently didn't want him. Sunderland got our sloppy seconds.

Can't help but think we'll regret it though.

how many players that we have tried to sign, signed for other teams? i lost count.

seriously, i dont understand how all these players are joining teams that are lesser than us, i mean, were the best of the rest in the premier league. oh well.

still hoping on rasmus.

We didn't try and sign him?
