So was having a chat with a mate at the weekend (drunken, post the trouncing), and I said that I went 7/8 years without seeing the blues losing in the flesh. Granted I wasn’t a season ticket holder during this time, but did around 30+ games during the stretch, including many tougher games (i.e tonking Arsenal, United a couple of times). It started with a 2-0 win v Villa in March 86, and ending with us surrendering a 2 goal lead against Bolton in the FA Cup Replay in 94.
Since then I don’t think I’ve strung together more than 3 wins on the run.
The thing is, this cemented my love of the blues and for a while I always had the anticipation of a win, now I have a lad of my own and hope he can go on the same run, but I have my doubts. Hopefully it doesn’t turn him off the blues!
Are you considered a lucky blue or a cursed blue (like Rick Wee). I know a lad who hasn’t seen Everton win in 15 games over 10 years. Totally cursed! His first visit to the Hill Dick was the Spurs game. Couldn’t make it up.
