Lads. Francisco Junior played in the Champions League last night, losing 1-0 to Steaua Bucuresti in the qualifier first leg. Mates of mine who support Strømsgodset are fans of his, appearantly he's an all-action midfield beast, like Ramires or something.

Yer I agree, he's not gonna be good enough for us. Was a weird signing, he's so small you'd think he has to have a couple of outstanding attributes for us to bother, I just can't work out what they are, doesn't seem to be that good at passing or particularly good at winning the ball either. I can see us giving him away like we did with Guaye.

Got a good long shot on him and he's pacey

Lacks heart and size though, so that pretty much rules him out as a CM in the English game

Bit of a strange one with Kennedy. I mean he was playing in the SPL for Kilmarnock back in 2011, yet now a few years later he has to make do with the next division down. Doesn't suggest that he's progressed much at all.
Thats where Stubbs is I think?

Seems a poblem with players leaving Scotland too early.

I thin its the destination that was his issue.
Yeah, I get that. It's just that there are not any/many examples of players who have left early or late from Scottish football to make a big impact in the Premiership. Is it more to do with the fact that the calibre of the SPL makes it hard to assess the real quality of a player doing well in that league? (With the obvious exception of Steven Naismith :p)

I'm sure that's been a factor, just seems odd that he was SPL quality at 17, yet apparently not at 19.

He played some games for killie but i think the hope is for him to play week in week out. Obviously RM will know stubbs but also john doolan from wigan and andy holden, so he knows what he will get. Can't wait to see him, thanks toffees!

i think it's more about him getting games under a manager who knows how to use him, in order for his progression to continue.

MY thoughts as well. In fact I think we've even heard Roberto call out Matty as one of the more promising young'uns we have. Maybe he's hoping to allow him to develop a bit more under the radar with Stubbs.

I also wonder (given the timing) if this was a tipping point in us getting Atsu on loan. Jose was apparently hesitant to loan him to us because of playing time. By removing Kennedy from the picture, it proved that we are willing to include Atsu as one of our top 3-4 wingers (Pienaar, Mirallis, McGeady, Atsu).
