We'll finish above you in the league, Martinez is going to bottle it. You were very fortunate against United and Arsenal, and don't have a hope in hell of European qualification.

I'm just teasing, of course. Our rivalry in recent years has turned really nasty, but I came here to see what most of your thoughts were about your new manager, your great start to the season, our start, and the PL in general.

So, first off, it pains me to say it but congratulations are in order so far on the way you've started the season and played. I honestly thought you'd have a season in transition and would struggle. It must be such a wonderful thing to have a manager who actually tries to win games as opposed to avoid losing them, eh? It seems as if Moyes has turned United into the Everton of old (not that I'm complaining), and Martinez has completely transformed you. I also honestly think you have a more complete squad than Spurs for instance, who spent silly money in the summer. Also, what do you make of Martinez's constant willingness to risk to try and win games? I'm sure it's a welcome change from Moyes, but might it come back to bite him in the arse should you end up losing such a game? What I'm trying to say is that if you had ended up losing to Arsenal, would you still have been happy after the match for if he had gone on to risk and try to win the game, or would you rather have had him shut up shop and take a point, and hope to maybe nick it?

Anyway, what do you make of your nearest and dearest friends from across town? Are we good enough to get into the top four, how would you assess our season thus far? Admittedly, we have some very difficult fixtures this month which I think will see you ahead of us come January. Should we spend in January, and should you as well?

Cheers for reading.
Nice one. I think we're all pleasantly surprised that the transition as gone as smoothly as it has (so far). I think I can speak for most fans on here (having only read the opening post) when I say that we are very happy to see us taking risks to win a game that we were totally capable of winning. It would be another matter if we had been struggling for 90 minutes and sneaked an undeserved equaliser. I think Martinez is smart enough to know when to go for it and when to ease off.
As you say it is lovely to see us taking the game to anyone as we've defo got the players to do it. Not saying we're as good as the genuine title contenders, but I honestly don't see anyone who is streets ahead of us.

If you keep hold of Suarez you're in with a great shout. I know I'll be repeating what everyone is saying but the obvious candidates are Arsenal, City and Chelsea for the top 3 spots. The 4th spot is up for grabs.

The January sales will be interesting. Real Madrid might make another push for Suarez so that might force your hand.

As for us, I think we'll be offloading Heitinga and possibly Jelavic so I imagine another back up striker will be brought in. The possibility of Baines leaving is painful to contemplate despite the promising performances of Oviedo so that would make a move imperative.
