I find this piece quite disturbing and upsetting, years later now in my adulthood I have the utmost respect for Bill Shankly the manager and the man, putting all rivalries aside he was an amazing character and built the RS up from basically nothing to one of the best teams in England and Europe but ultimately he was the man who drew from the club probably the most abhorrent and unpalatable behaviour, he was more than welcomed at Goodison I remember as a 16 year old during that period seeing him walking amongst our own outside the main stand with so many shaking his hand and saying 'alright Bill' it was great to see Evertonians at their best but it was sad to see a great man probably broken inside due to the treatment from the club to which he had given so much ."I might add that I count Everton amongst the clubs who have welcomed me over the last few seasons. I have been received more warmly by Everton than I have been by Liverpool. It is scandalous and outrageous that I should have to write these things about the club I helped to build into what it is today, because if the situation had been reversed I would have invited people to games.
"It was never my intention to have a complete break with Liverpool, but at the same time I wasn't going to put my nose in where it wasn't wanted. Maybe I was a an embarassment to some people."
Bill Shankly. Their greatest ever manager and arguably the most important single person in their history.....but it's alright 'cos they named a gate and built a statue of him.
spoke to him twice outside goodison after the game only a kid at the time but he stood and talked for about 45 minutes, second time was about a month later and he shouted me over and what do you think about the game today, gentleman didn't talk down to you , just asked what you thought of a certain player and how you could do something better ect,Also later met Fagan in stanley park with his dog he was fine as well , didn't talk about footy as he was asking about my staffy pup that was playing with his dog.I find this piece quite disturbing and upsetting, years later now in my adulthood I have the utmost respect for Bill Shankly the manager and the man, putting all rivalries aside he was an amazing character and built the RS up from basically nothing to one of the best teams in England and Europe but ultimately he was the man who drew from the club probably the most abhorrent and unpalatable behaviour, he was more than welcomed at Goodison I remember as a 16 year old during that period seeing him walking amongst our own outside the main stand with so many shaking his hand and saying 'alright Bill' it was great to see Evertonians at their best but it was sad to see a great man probably broken inside due to the treatment from the club to which he had given so much .

Another shameful and disgraceful episode they never bring up or mention in the hope that it disappears... and morphs into never having actually happened."I might add that I count Everton amongst the clubs who have welcomed me over the last few seasons. Supposedly all that is a myth and was made up by a few Evertonian's, and it spiralled that much that people started to believe it to the point it became gospel. According to my RS mate that is.
