I know this is somewhat old news but do you guys think that Messi takeing growth hormones at the age of 11 has something to do with his ability on the pitch now?

Its doping in my opinion and although it was at a younger age it questions the integrity of the Barcelona academy.

What are your thoughts?

I don't think it would have anything to do with his technique or ability on the field.

From what I remember reading is that he needed that medication because his body didn't have the hormone that everyone else is born with to grow normally. Even if he wasnt a footballer he'd need it because he'd have disproportions when he should be at a normal height. Also his family couldn't afford it which is why he moved to barca as they said they'd pay for it

No, I don't think it helped him one bit. However the Operation Puerto doping scandal did suggest that several La Liga players were involved with Dr Fuentes, so it wouldn't surprise me one bit if footballers weren't engaged in this sort of thing.
