Didn't mean to turn this into a Ronaldo vs. Messi debate.

Obviously Messi is a great, great player and at the end of his career, could be one of the all time best.

But if I was starting a club today and could pick any player to start the team with, it would be Ronaldo.

That said, Messi could easily be my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th pick. No question.

Difficult choice, Messi or Ronaldo. Last season Ronaldo was totally unplayable, but he DOES go missing in big games, hasnt really shown his best form this season, but im sure it will come. Didnt really watch much Spainish football last season, so cant comment on Messis form. But whenever ive seen him hes just amazing. So much talent, but last season he played in a under-par Barca team and still shined whenever i caught them.

So hard to judge, different leagues, but Ronaldo is shining in possibly the hardest league in the world, i think Messi could play in the Premiership, he would shine as much as Ronaldo, i hope we see him play here, but i just cant see it anytime soon, players like Messi, Kaka, Aguero, i just cant see them ever coming to England, which is a shame.

Cant wait for the next World Cup, IMO thats the time to shine, thats the time to judge who is the best player in the world, Maradona did it, Pele did it, to shine above your peers is a players crowning moment and is surely what they play football for. Oh and possibly the Millions they earn each month.

Not so long ago, I would have agreed with you 100%. Not so sure now. Club football is kickin' ass big time now. with CL being so hyped and the astronomical wages, players want to do it for their clubs. In the last ten years we've seen the likes of Scholes, Shearer and Batistuta 'retire' from international football when they still had plenty to offer. That was unheard of 20/30 years ago when I first started following football seriously. At that time every one talked about how too many club games was detrimental to the national team. players, fans, journalists, everyone. Now it's the exact opposite. Ckeck out the posts during the international break. Press talking about the 'Fifa virus' when players come back injured from international duty. Not saying the world cup isn't important, it is, and personally I love it. But, obviously due to television coverage/investment, club football is possibly more important and a more faithful reflection of the true ability of footballers.
Could be relevant that the players are absolutely shagged when the world cup comes round too.

I heard chico is the most complete playa in the world.

no, thats GAYER mate.

I dont think Kaka is as explosive as Messi, Kaka has a better footballing talent i agree, as to who i would most like to have in my team, i would pick Messi, theres nothing better than a player running at players full speed, Ronaldo does it, Messi does it, but players like Kaka just beat players with raw talent and some players like Riqueleme beat players with brains alone. Aguero is also an amazing player, why do these South Americans create so many talented players? I just dont get it.

Some1 like Maradona he had it all, he could run at players, he could beat them with a drop of his shoulder, its wrong to compare anybody to a player like this, they are a 1 off.

all, apart from a right foot or sense of sportsmanship.

Are we talking about the same Messi?

The Messi that was shut down by Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein when the USA faced Argentina in the Copa America last year. And I do mean SHUT DOWN. Messi did nothing the entire match. I can't remember the last time I saw Ronaldo completely neutralized by his marker. Don't know that I have.

Like I said, I think Messi's a fantastic player. There's no doubting that. But I don't rate him above Ronaldo. No joke.

neville and other o.t. regs will tell you that he has many bad games and a bad game for him means doing absolutely nothing, get a compilation of how many times he isn't given a free kick in his favourite positions through diving, when it's not going his way from the start he sulks and doesnt really take part in the game, he has many bad games it's just his spectacular goals grab the headlines and plaudits, mazey runs past some ale house defence that get re-run after re-run.

now if we are talking pure skill, knowledge, ability and all roundness the Alan Harper takes some beating.

His ability only surpassed by his good looks:lol::lol:

Which is why he's the more complete player.
