Linekar crying about about teams withdrawing players form U21 Euros

Hadn't realised that, was it just a temporary thing as he settled into Spurs or has he missed most of the qualifiers? Don't remember seeing him in the games I've been able to watch now you mention it.
Think he said he wants to be a centre half and he withdrew cause he was going to be played as a full back

Tbf can understand that if you are trying to get the positioning right to be a CB it could be very confusing to switch back to being a fullback only be playing in the centre the next match.

Some players will be able to handle the two different roles and keep them seperate but others will probably end up as an unsatisfactory mix between the two.

Tbf I can understand why LVG doesn't want Shaw to go, he was originally very supportive of him being in the competition but he has had awful injury luck.

Mind you I believe Shaw's first hamstring injury during presseason was because LVG overworked him - he admitted to giving him double sessions because he didn't think he was fit enough and he even did it the day before the game Shaw's hamstring went.

can't blame the manager for a footballer being tubby, he does look a tad on the heavy side for a footballer ... not than van gaal can talk haha

The bit I didn't quite understand was that Pochettino was meant to be a bit of a hard taskmaster in training - Kane has talked about lots of double sessions etc. You'd think that having worked for him Shaw would have been fit, perhaps he just partied too hard whilst in Brazil for the World Cup ;)

.....it must've been temporary. Saying that, it historically meant you had burnt your bridges but there must be more tolerance now.

Balls to Southgate calling up Stones, he's clearly in with a shot of the main squad for the euros next year - two years without a break for the lad FFs.

Two summers is probably OK, especially as we don't have Europe next season.

Anymore would be a concern which is why am pleased that Barkley isn't going.

Don't think Oscar has had a summer off since 2010, probably thankful for his injury that is ruling him out of this year's Copa America.
