All the media and pundits and jarg football experts can cry into their hot chocolates tonight. Not only did Pickford not face “retribution” he put in a masterclass effort in a big two vs to all of you.

I'll freely admit that I felt his time here had come, but he looks totally revitalized. Confident on corrailing it; the old Pickford lets that rebound on the stonewall save clatter around and in. That changed the match, and he had a couple other quality saves.

Commentator here said "he made the saves he should have made" - well, a world-class goalkeeper is exactly that at a nearly 100% rate. You just have to make the ones you're supposed to.

It's the all-timers that do that and make the spill-your-beer saves besides.
