Has anyone been following the Leveson enquiry today?

Paul McMullan is a moral black hole and our tabloid press really is rotten to the core. Not even remotely apologetic about the havoc they wreak on people's lives and even seems to think he's righteous in some way. I really wish evil on this guy and his masters. Agree with him about Coulson and Brooks, mind.

Summing up of his evidence today:

• Andy Coulson brought phone hacking "wholesale" to the News of the World,
• Brands Andy Coulson and Rebekah Brooks "the scum of journalism"
• He describes Brooks as "arch criminal" and "criminal-in-chief"
• Hacking Milly Dowler's phone was "not a bad thing"
• He claims Coulson and Brooks knew about hacking
• "Privacy is for paedos"
• Car chases when Diana was alive were "such good fun"

Quite funny seeing them all squealing on each other like ****house rats though.

Spot on mate. They operate in a different moral world than normal folks. The story is everything, hang the consequences. I knew a reporter who is VERY high up in the tabloid papers; he graduated from our local paper to a red top, but he knew that to get a job with the Fleet St tabs, a MINIMUM of 3 Press Complaints Commission findings against you were required. Showed you had the "right" attitude apparently.

The only surprise is that people are surprised. To###rs. But, IMO, so are the celebs who take their shilling, then complain. Deal with the devil, dont be surprised at the results....

I just don't agree with this line of thinking.

Say a celebrity, an actor has a new film out. So they do some interviews with the press, whore themselves out in front of a camera to try and boost profits for their new film.

Don't think that should mean its fair game for the press to hack their phones and publish highly sensitive personal information about them.

Sure, thats how the press work now but they never should of been allowed to become what they are : scum, subhuman scum.

The whole industry needs completly destroying and restarted with newspapers actually doing what they should do : reporting actual news.

Absolutely spot on. That McMullan is one ham faced tit too, but he's great to have around as you couldn't stereotype a hack better than that if you tried.

We need to get away from reporting what Beckham is wearing or who Jordan is f*cking. It's not news, it's pollution. It also stirs interest in the kids who then falsely proclaim these as role models. Where's the current issues in the papers, and I'm not just talking tabloids here it's also infecting the broadsheets.

The BBC leads the world in accurate, responsible reporting. It has it's faults, like the F*CKING BELLENDS ON BBC LIVE TEXT, ffs, but after spending time in different places all over the world I would never swap it. It needs holding up as the standard and having other media being judged against it.

Britain is on the forefront of news gathering. I mean, we'd all be so lost not knowing what bikini Rhianna was wearing while shooting her lastest risque video in Barbados.

Tories requesting core participant status for spin control and to cover their arses ahead of potentially given evidence - allows them advanced warning of particularly hazardous correspondence.

Disgusting. An unfair advantage and should not be allowed. But Leveson will grant it here.

Sure, they use the media when it suits, which is fair enough, but when they then try to promote some false impression of themselves, then get caught out, fair game IMO. It is total hypocrisy to use the media to sell yourself, then complain when the media uses you to sell their wares. I am talking about celebs, & those in public life, NOT people like the Dowlers, which was just sickening behavior from an out of control group of journos.
