To be fair to him he has slightly mellowed over the last year, and ok he had the embarrassing 'I'm better than Steve La/Lamps' outburst not so long ago, so he may have a final point to prove.

At 28 - you'd hope his dark days are long gone. It seems to be the case.

He'd run through walls for Everton and David Moyes - who lend his support at Bartons lowest.

He's going to be 29 in September. As well as he's played this year, his age and his suspect temperament would tip this towards a 'no' for me.

He is a total tool, but he's been really good for them this season. Barton on our right with Coleman behind him is quite tempting, but they're going to want a fee to release him from the last year of his contract. That might be something like £4m. I'd rather spend it on someone who has yet to reach their prime. If he was on a free, I might change my mind.

Hes been one of the best players in the league this season, hes gotten Newcastle at least 10 points this season IMO from general play, assits and goals.

Far and away their best player - what did lad wouldnt do for Everton. Yeah its likely hes a massive Ted, but we're not asking him to babysit the kids but to play football. I think he could find a home with us, make a massive contribution, and become an even better player.
