Lescott....

According to the Mail he's available for £4m. Mancini prefers Toure in Kompany's absence and has admitted that he should have bought another centre back in January. Lescott will only have a year of his contract to run in the summer and wants to play to regain his England place from Ferdinand. Moyes has confirmed that he'd be interested in taking him back. Seems like an obvious move with Distin coming into the latter stages of his career.

For me, no matter how much of an arse he was when he left, he was a bloody good defender, I know he's not getting any younger but i'd have him back in a flash, him and Jags back in the heart of defence, we may actually keep a clean sheet.

Him and Jags were great as a partnership. They managed to keep out Spain together. I mean, we might actually keep a clean sheet every now and again.

What age is he now ? Still young enough to command a bigger salary and better contract than he'll get here probably.

File under 'wishful thinking'.

He'll be 31 at the start of next season. Moyes likes his ageing/experienced centre backs (Stubbs, Gough, Weir, Distin). Unless Villa suddenly have money to spend an he fancies a return to the Midlands, it's hard to think of many reasons why he wouldn't come back.

More money elsewhere ?

Who would offer it to him though? There's only our calibre of club interested in players with no sell on value.

I just think that he's still good enough to command a similar wage to the one he's on at City if he were to leave close to or at the end of his current contract. It's important to remember why he left - a doubling of his salary. Money talks for this feller.

Lescott for £4m? Snap your arm off. If him and Jags are back together that can only be a good thing.

Buy him for £5m from Wolves, sell him for £24m to City and buy him back for £4m. Happy days! It would be odd that 3 out of our back 4 would have returned to the club, since Jags and Baines left as youths.
