Lescott To Start? – News Archive – News – evertonfc.com - The Official Website of Everton Football Club

Rio Ferdinand will miss England’s World Cup qualifier against Andorra tonight – possibly paving the way for a place in the starting line-up for Joleon Lescott.
Fabio Capello confirmed that the Manchester United defender will be unavailable for the clash due to a neck injury.
And now the England boss has a choice of bringing in one of either Wes Brown, Matthew Upson or Lescott to play alongside John Terry.
Ferdinand is expected to be fit in time for Wednesday’s trip to Croatia, but tonight could be the perfect opportunity for Lescott to cement his place in the England set-up after he was left out the squad that faced Czech Republic last month.
The match against Andorra is taking place in Barcelona and is Capello's first competitive match since taking over from Steve McClaren.

Might actually make me watch the game.

Cant see Wes Brown getting a chance and Upson might just pip him. But if Lescott does start he's got to step up big time. Hopefully playing with Terry it'll get him back on track for the season and the boost he needs.

LOL. And I thought this might cheer people up!

We've got cover if he does get injured anyway and I'm sure Terry will whip his arse into gear. New manager, new campaign and hopefully he doesnt want to be a [Poor language removed] up again like the Euro run up.

He'll start - Terry needs someone with a bit more on-the-ball ability, movement and a cool head to compensate for his shortcomings. Been playing below par, but has more ability in his big toe than Brown & Upson.

Think there's a good chance Brown'll be in at right-back anyways.

He'll play [Poor language removed] again, I just know it.

My first thought too, tbh!

I don't WANT to be this negative, the thought just popped in there

Hopefully he'll get a good solid game under his belt. It's Andorra FFS, they're hardly going to test us.

Wasn't going to watch but I'll give it a go now (y)

Hope not, dont want to risk injury, and dont want him to play [Poor language removed] - so other people think he is :(

the man is a king - he is invincible, he feels no pain, he doesnt know the word injury, i expect a brace from the man should he start
