I compare the stick Leon gets/got to Mirallas now, who hasn't had a good (or even average) game in about 3 years and runs round like a typical Belgian (i.e. doesn't break sweat) and sometimes wonder if I am blind and dumb...

Completely agree. And he wasn't helped by having Hibbert or Neville behind him when he played on the right. Time and again he'd find space, ready to take the ball, then he'd be marked and shoved aside by the time they'd got the ball under control, looked up, and passed to him.

Not sure it was (just) physicality that stopped him, ultimately he's about the same height as Pienaar, David Silva and Juan Mata.

I've seen a lot worse players get hero status the last 20 years..... I thought we always looked a much better team when he played.... Don't understand the hate.

Very clever player, a thinking mans player, true custodian of the beautiful game, a lot of what he did on the pitch went unnoticed by fans but professional football people with a deep understanding on how a wining side works would like him

I always liked him. Him, Cahill, Arteta and Pienaar were my fave players in the "Moyassic period" , Our very own Messi lite. I dont really get the hate, He wasn't the quickest or Strongest but that didn't mean he wasn't an intelligent player.
Again, I think this Comes down to if you have read his book or not... I haven't.
