Leon Osman and Tony Hibbert

People like Cahill, Neville and Howard who have come here, recognised the good in the club and become blues are great, but to have born and bred lifetime fans in and around the starting 11 is of intangible importance. Both of them have given us years and years and years of decent (not brilliant, but perfectly sufficient) service at this point, without demanding stupid wages, without putting the club down in the press, without spending months on end wrangling over an extra 10% on their contract, and without p!ssing off on a free as soon as they had an opportunity. What's more, even when Everton have a bad season, you didn't see either of our lads walking around for a full year in a sulk, head down, shoulders slumped and clearly not giving a flying toss. They've fought for our club every time they've pulled on the jersey, and I'd have either of them over that local thug across the park any day.
Agreed, how any 'so called' evertonians can berate these two is beyond me.

All I'm saying to you Hibbert haters, you should have seen his game v Portsmouth on the last game of the season. He was brilliant, a revelation. I'm still convinced that he has a twin brother who now plays in his place. Crossing still needs to be worked on, but he now has more confidence and Coleman won't walk into that right back spot.

Thought Hibbo picked up during the last part of the season, he was the bollox at the Pompey match.

Ossie when played correctly in the centre, next to Arteta, runs the fcuking show. Very inconsistent at times but is a total bulldog in the centre for me, bamboozles the defence with his feet when he is on form.

It's lads like these that show the Cahills, Artetas & Billys how we do things at Everton. It's all good having some old codger like Dave Hickson prattling on about us but when you're in training with these guys every day, really lets these foreign lads know what we're about. Very important.

Maybe i could be way out here but to me Coleman is a natural replacement for Hibbert.

2 very, very good squad players that will give 1000% every single game and bleed blue.

Better players ahead of them for a 1st team spot, for me anyway and as others have said at times play like Cafu and Messi.

I hope we never ever sell them.

I think what Hibbo and Osman give Everton is tenacity, and honesty - neither have an abundance of talent, but both make up for in effort and attitude, something which players with more ability sadly lack because of the whopping payslips they get. I'd take 1 Tony Hibberts over 2 Andy Van Der Meydes.

I don't understand why people say that about Osman, he's one of the best 'footballers' at the club. Great touch and close control, good technique and tidy passing ability. He lacks physically, that's what lets him down.

hope he gives coleman a try preseason. Ossie is best from the bench...won't be much room for him when everyone is fit.

Hibbert has a huge heart, but he is too slow. Offers nothing going forward, which if we had a decent RW might not matter too much, but we don't.

Osman gets bundled over alot when he plays outwide, team's limit his space and it's a different role that requires him to move with the ball at his feet, he's not that type of player, he's a give and go, combination player. He doesn't when he's in the middle of the park, he's in his natural surroundings and can play to his strengths.

His performances against Arsenal, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester Utd where to a very high level. You can't really ignore them, his form has been excellent since he returned from injury against BATE. He's far more valuable to us than Hibbert is.

Are you serious? Have you not seen Ossie play in the middle. Its his best position. I can even tell you what he does. He beats two players (he can't beat three) he makes space, he then looks up (note England players) and more time than not makes a telling pass.

Next time he plays in the middle, watch him play, or replay some of our great games from last season when he played in the middle.

As for Hibbo. As I said before, Coleman will have a job displacing him. "Offers nothing going forward?" Go watch the games. He goes forward as much as Baines, his crosses have improved immeasurably, oh, cripes he's even had an assist or two. And his game v Portsmouth? If you didn't see it, get a video. A great performance.

The only thing I'll agree with you on is that, hopefully the young lions will step up, improve those areas and we can be grateful that we have two loyal academy players who don't try and rip the club off at the first loophole they find.
