80k a week for back up....love him but makes horrendous business sense to keep. For years we have never been ruthless enough, we need to start

Baines is done. It’ll be soooooo easy to upgrade at LB. Robinson is backup with some risk. He was outstanding by all accounts at Bolton, but his ability to get forward matches Silva’s scheme well. Not saying getting someone like Vida wouldn’t hurt as he can play LB, but assuming we are going to acquire a good first team LB, think it would be fine.

If its true that Baines was first back at finch farm training this week.. i hope the next fella will give as much for the team as he has. I hope Baines is kept on for backup, i wont pretend he isnt past his mecurial best but he understands the roll and will have plenty of knowledge to pass on...he was after all the best leftback in the league for about 3 years...that doesnt leave you like speed and legs do...oh and apparently fan support.
