Brilliant player, you can lump him in there with Cahill as someone who deserved a trophy. Really sad way to bow out though, hopefully he can get the reception he deserves from a full crowd in the future. I like how he made the call now instead of hanging round like Hibbert did draining the club.

Thanks for being one of the few Everton players I can look back on in my lifetime supporting Everton who can genuinely lay a claim to being one of the best in their position.

I do think this is the right time to go and clearly Baines thinks that himself.

Put him in Chelsea or Man City team he would win plenty, not a 1 man sport.

Baines what a player. The term world class is recently thrown about but he really is one of those players. A player who really could of gone on to bigger and maybe better things but he choose not to out of his love for the club. The last time we will see a player of his class at our club I fear.

Best for all really. He's played about 6 - 10 games in the last two seasons, so it's clearly time for him to quit. It's a pity that his last appearance was in that dreadful display, though tht tackle he made towards the end showed the rest how it's done.

I just missed out on Ray Wilson, so I'd say Baines is the best left back I've seen play for Everton.
