Leighton Baines, arguably Everton's best player.

Has been carrying us for the past 12 months.

He's now got someone on the left he can really try and gel with who'll support him on overlaps who will run forward and support him... with REAL pace.

Royston Drenthe

I think they'll tear many a team's a new one between them. I also think this will suit Billy as he'll get allowed to play inside more as either a left sided AM or CF alternating with Osman in that role.

If Coleman or A. N. OTHER do the same with the right then we really could rip many a team a new one this season. If we can sort the right and if Baines-Drenthe gel..

'm down for a Cup Win and Europe this season...

*Depending on January - if we get another winger for the right to cover/support Coleman... and stay relatively clear of injuries I'll be buzzing

Still need to sort infrastructure at the club... but we now have real WIDTH and pace.

Thoughts ?

Yeah, this potential width thing excites me mate. It's not been since the Limpar and Kanchelskis days since we've had an decent quality with pace on opposing wings. Hopefully Coleman and Drenthe will provide it, suppose we'll have to see how the Dutchman acclimatises and how Coleman develops.

The big thing we need is someone in the middle to benefit from it. Saha is a wonderful header of the ball as is Cahill. Hopefully Vellios and Denis will develop in this area too.

Anyway, options and a bit of optimism, super. Until Wigan rinse us on Saturday.

If we can build on this with another wide player (right sided predominantly?) in Jan then I think we'll be all set for an interesting run in.

Do think Baines has been asked to do more and more and more since last Jan in order to keep us ticking over.

Think we'll see better out of him when its not all reliant on him. A decent winger like Drenthe has the potential to be could be really SUPER.

If he can become half as popular with the Goodison crowd, as this Dutchie is on GOT, we've got a winner.

*Not even joking.b)

Seriously, if Drenthe gets his head fown and starts realising that chances in football don't come forever, he could become a tremendous player for us.
