Leicester allocation

Good afternoon. Leicester fan here in peace. I'm really looking forward to this game (no big expectations though!) First off, It's 10 years since you last came to Leicester, a few of you may be coming to the KP for the first time so welcome to you. I guess most of you will also know about Bernard Murphy (Evertonian) who died on the way to Leicester 10 years ago. Some of you may also know that we have a remembrance garden right outside the ground (opposite the players entrance). There is a plaque for Bernard there so I hope you bring something to remember him. I'm also glad to say that this has never been defaced...quite an achievement considering the high rate of mongs we have in this city!!

Just for those of you coming for the first time and a reminder for the older generation, parking is pretty dire. We don't offer car parking outside so it's side streets and car parks I'm afraid. Avoid the parking at the NCP outside of Leicester Tigers...this is referred to as "The Old Granby Halls." Unless you get there early, it's bloody expensive. £4 all day before 09:30...expensive after. If you google Freemans Common, it's a short walk to the ground. This is an industrial area which is 99% closed on Saturdays. Nearly all of the car parks for the units turn into football parking on this day. Still expensive at £5 a car. The only upside to this is that the money used to go to charity..not sure if this is still the case. There's quite a lot of parking here, although another downside is you can get stuck here after the game for a bit. 99% of our games will be sold out (this one included) so as long as you are not in a rush to leave you'll be ok here. Arrive early for a space.

Some of you may have parked off Narborough Road for free in the past. This has changed recently and now operates a permit scheme. There are spaces on one side of the road (and the side streets around that area) although spaces are at a premium. Arrive early for a space. A couple of bars down here, lots of junk food shops. If for some reason you find yourself in the city centre and you are parking, then Abbey Street NCP is your best bet. It's £4 all day (24 hours). You could then get a bus or taxi to the ground.

There's a hotel immediately outside the ground (30 sec walk) so if you're staying there, then I guess you'll have parking...just check with the hotel first.

Pubs...we are usually a welcoming bunch although we do seem to have more than our fair share of idiots. There are a couple of 'designated' away pubs although I've been in plenty of pubs in Leicester with mixed fans. We don't mix well with Forest, Derby and Covscum. The Counting House is an away pub and 99% of away fans have a good time there. It's right next to a Morrisons who employ Car Park Hitler's so don't park there. This is also very close to Freemans Common (parking).

There is a pub across the road from Leicester Train Station called the Hind. It used to allow away fans but I can't remember if this is still the case. The ground is a 30 minute walk from the train station by the way. If you like real ale, then the Swan and Rushes is worth trying. There will be lots of City fans inside and out, but you'll be fine there. It's very close to the Leicester Royal Infirmary and 20 minutes from the ground. The Western is another pub that has a mixture of home and away fans and very rarely sees trouble. There's a couple of 'trendy' bars around the corner from The Western. These are on Braunstone Gate. I personally wouldn't bother to be fair.

AVOID the F-Bar. This used to be called The Turnstile. Full of pricks who want a scrap. You'll also get jokers coming on here saying The Rainbow and Dove is an away pub. While it's fine if you could get in, the joke is that it is a gay pub.

I need to go out but if I can help with questions, I'm happy to do so.
Thanks for that. Are you sure about the swan and rushes? I was turned away from there a whole back because my son aged about 11had an everton shirt on!!

Nice one mate, what about Bruce Street? or Upperton Road? can you still park there for free?

Allez...I've seen mixed fans in there in recent seasons for sure. I'm not sure when you've been in but I can check what they are doing this year.

4737Carlin...Uperton Road...yes and no mate. It's just a road through now unless you're talking about the other half (which I guess you are) . For those that don't know it's split in two. The half that is the 'other' side to the ground is fine and all these side streets this side of Narborough are fine as well.

Bruce Street is on the wrong side of Narborough Road and although I can't say for sure, it's most of these side streets which are now under the parking permit scheme (Gaul, Patton, Stuart etc)

Luke..EE is very near the back. If you've been Southampton, ours is very similar.

We have a soulless pop up stadium I'm afraid. The fans to all of your left will make a bit of a row. Say hello to our Jobber on the drum. He does a decent job. To your right is the family stand.

That is ok thanks. I will have a look on the day. Probably be going to the Counting House.

Not totally relevant to this thread, but for those who were asking how supporters clubs (SC) were allocated away tickets up until this season, it was basically done on an average ticket uptake.

I started a SC at the start of last season (East Anglian Blues), and once I had 30 members we became affiliated. This meant we had access to away tickets. This is how it worked for us, I'm assuming other SCs were the same...

For the first few games of our existence I could (within reason), apply for as many tickets as I wanted for my members, whether they were season ticket holders (STH) or not, irrelevant of whatever the current criteria was for other fans who were not members of a SC.

After a few games, EFC then started to use the average of my requests of the previous games as my SC's allocation. I could then apply for this amount for each subsequent game. If I did not apply for the full amount for a game then this would affect the average and the allocation would be reduced for future matches accordingly. If a match went to general sale then I could apply for more tickets which would then increase our allocation for future matches.

By the end of last season our SC's allocation was just 5 tickets per match, and we had about 40 members. In hindsight I could (but didn't!) have applied for loads more tickets in the early days of the SC when there were no restrictions on our requests, which would have allowed me to get a huge average allocation, and then I could have just sold the tickets that were not taken by my members, on websites such as this.

But now, EFC have simply told SCs that we can only apply for away tickets for our members who are STHs. If you are a STH and a member of a SC then the benefit is that you need a slightly reduced away credit history to apply for tickets i.e. for Leicester this season, I could apply for away tickets for my STH members who had 4 away credits from last year, whilst the normal criteria for STH who were non-SC members was at 6 away credits. As for my non-STH members there is now zero benefit with regards to away tickets.

I can totally understand why some STH would have been annoyed at seeing non-STH getting their hands on away tickets just because they were a member of a SC, but EFC have gone from one extreme to another. In my view they should have just reduced the allocation they were giving to SC's non-STH members, rather than take this benefit away all together. After all, the whole reason EFC want regional supporters clubs is to 'spread the Everton word' so to speak, but now there is very little incentive for people to join one. After all, access to home game tickets is pretty easy, and joining a supporters club was a good way of experiencing an away day without having to be a STH, which for many living all around the UK isn't a feasible thing to be able to do.
