Baines and Coleman should be the two players that provide the team with width with their runs from deep full back positions. They have both had a lot of success in this role in recent seasons, no reason why it should not continue.

I would choose Besic and Mc Carthy in front of the back four.

If we need to use the 4-2-3-1 formation, I would prefer Mirallas, Barclay & Naysmith to be the three that play with Lukaku as the front player. All three players have the versitility to be able to switch positions from left to right and if needed to be the front striker, this will allow also when it suits for Lukaku to be able to operate from a wide position.

We need versatility going forward, this would give us plenty of options.

anyone for Ben Arfa?

Am aware that apparently he's not a great bloke. But on his day, he's a joy to watch and could be great on the left for us. Potentially he could be free if no one wants him. Just a question whether Martinez can sort him out.

I'd honestly choose Aids over Arfa.

Both the disease and jarg Irish Scottish winger.

You just know after Barkleys quality display against QPR he will he moved out of CM to accomodate Naismith and barry and be shoved out onto the wing against Southampton.

Sigh.

As a Man Utd fan, I think Everton should sign Memphis Depay and bring back Gerard Deulofeu if, and that's a big if, you can afford the transfer fee. I think Everton now have good central players in Lukaku, Naismith, Barkley etc. but every time I see Kevin Mirallas play, more often than not he disappoints me. Dribbling should be bread and butter for a winger, Kevin just can't do it enough.

We desperately need new wingers. Pienaar looks finished sadly, McGeady is not consistant enough for a team with top 6 aims (A good signing for free, but not a starter imo), Atsu has been a disaster and Mirallas seems to pick up injuries. Oviedo I see more as a squad man who can fill in a number of roles. An important player for us, but not a first choice winger.

I think this area of the team needs investment more than a new centre half. I REALLY want us to sign a top young keeper as a priority though.

Personally think goals and assists should be the bread and butter for a winger and Kev has 6 goals and 2 assists this season out of 11 starts/2 sub appearances.

Most strikers, let alone wingers, would be happy with that tally - Rooney has 6 goals and 3 assists in the same timeframe for example.

1. Goal Keeper (Howard is a joke at times, the rest are not good enough)
2. Left Centre back (would love to see Besic play, just to see what he does - Plays for his country there) - Distin wil not last the season.
3. Left Winger (McGeady can use either foot, but gives the ball away - best option we have)
4. Right back (when coleman is not in the team, we look dead on the right hand side)
5. If Kone does not do well then we need to replace him in the summer. We need Lukaku to have a break at times.

I would like to see Oviedo, Mirallas and Lukaku as a front 3 with Oviedo and Mirallas switching from conventional wingers (on their preferred foot) to inverted wingers.

When he's fit, Pienaar still seems to be our best option, which I think says more for the quality of the others than him. McGeady is too inconsistant, and none of the others are really wingers. Except Oviedo, who has obviously had injuries so we havent seen a lot of him in the last year. Once he's fit though, Im all for seeing him play there.

Of the others who arent wingers, its not that bad when Naismith plays there, as obviously he isnt a winger, but when he plays there, we seem to play a bit more narrow, with Mirallas cutting inside more, and the full backs overlapping. So while hes not really playing on the wing, I think it works, albeit in a different system. When Eto'o or Barkley play there by comparison, they do tend to stay out wide and have very little influence.
