We loaned them both out last season (including Garbutt) though too with no incoming for Baines backup (we had Oviedo until Jan though)

On the left though who do we have who can even fill in ? Seems weird we're shipping off Galloway who's already proven himself as an okay backup for Baines in the past and there's literally zero chatter in us filling that position.

So unless we do actually have someone lined up then we're going to be screwed and teams are going to exploit what will be a very tired Baines come mid/end season if he plays every game

Mate I personally think we should be replacing Baines this summer rather than back up. He is past his best and although he is still good enough for the team that won't last forever so having his replacement already here would be a good thing to have.

Where you mention holgate, he is a centre half shoe horned into that position same as Kenny is a home grown player. So we haven't looked to sign any back ups despite teams like Southampton even having 3 of them in that position. Similarly to up front , just having no back ups has seriously harmed us over the years, Oviedo being an exception.

I hope this changes in the future and we so have back ups and replacement for these players here at the club. Just madness to keep gambling on older players in the first team I think, took koeman to finally replace Barry with 4 new players.

Oh don't get me wrong I think we should be signing someone to replace Baines too but it seems a little concerning there's been literally zero chatter about it despite it being our most glaringly weak position in the whole team (now that we've sorted a Keeper out) you'd think everyone would be throwing rumours but there's been nothing.

Baines did good for us last season but he's nowhere good enough now to start every single game for us in a non Europe season, let alone one which begins in a matter of weeks
 

Ronny K doesnt do favourites, we clearly have space in the squad for a LB, somebody to push Baines for a start and hopefully take over when Baines retires, keep the faith.

There was the fella who signed for Arsenal chatter, we wont have just gave up on signing 1.
 
Baines is still the main man for me, I know he is getting written off by some but I think he's got at least a season in his role before Bobbies plan to play him centre mid....oh sorry....he was wacky that little Spaniard!

Cover wise though I reckon we have to buy but I have no clue who?
 

Been thinking this as well. I'm sure they'll have someone in mind though. They won't want Funes Mori playing there again. Davies would probably do alright there but that wouldn't be ideal.
