In my opinion it means people don't consider Everton a threat.

Think it depends especially in English football - clubs like West Ham and certainly Millwall are threats to no one however both (certainly the latter) are disliked for having a thug fanbase.

Newcastle is another who's fanbase is often hated for being deluded / coming out with garbage like them being the best and most passionate fans in the world.

Certain clubs fans don't like us (Southampton, Watford) because we went for their managers/best player however most neutrals outside of the plastic clubs appreciate us being a historic big club that have done alot to make football the game it currently is in this country.

That's a bad thing, in my opinion.

Yeah I’ve always thought that, I hate all this patting us on the head crap. I want to be known as bad snides (on the pitch like)

I live in the South - east now and there is a big range of different fans, I’ve got a couple of Spurs mates, Chelsea mate, neighbours who Are Southampton fans and they all say “I’ve got a lot of time for you lot” “You do things the proper way” (whatever that means) the only time I’ve heard us slagged off down here was actually from a Reading fan.

I don’t see it like that at all. I don’t mind City, and that’s because they are a good club with decent fans. A teams fanbase and a teams players makes people dislike a club. Why do people still dislike Leeds ? They certainly are not a threat and rarely are a threat if you look at their history. Everton are a top class club with top class fans. They are a very successful club, but like ourselves have gone a long time without any proper success. Some clubs just have something about them that makes you like them and Everton are one of those clubs. Then there are clubs like Leeds that have something about them, but in a different way that makes you dislike them. Newcastle are not particularly liked and it’s because of their fans who are a bunch of clowns . Millwall are disliked for their thuggish fanbase but they are no threat as a club.

Perfect post.

I have a lot of time for City given they're the only ones in a position to stop the Apocalypse but I don't think they're well liked in the wider football family. It is easy to imagine that fans of clubs with limited resources look at City with envious eyes.

Of course but they have a great manager who’s very likeable. They are great to watch with no players you dislike that much. Their fans have known hard times in recent years too.

Their fans are getting too big for their boots, in my opinion.

Don't know what the reason is. I would guess because its the 'peoples club'. I live down south now and I guarantee that if I talk to anyone down here about football and mention :Everton, they will say 'I quite like Everton as a club'. Never hear anyone trashing Everton, unlike some clubs.
I get this a lot here in Australia too.
