Let go from Cov today, at 37 probably looks like retirement is on the cards.

Cracking servant for Everton, a player who was never the most skillful, yet one who never once gave less than 100%.

All the best Lee.

Coventry City manager Andy Thorn says a deadline has been set for three of his players to sign new deals with the Championship club.

Kieren Westwood, Marlon King and Aron Gunnarsson all have until 19 May to agree to continue playing for City.

Thorn made sure they were offered contracts when he was made permanent Sky Blues boss a fortnight ago.

He told BBC Coventry & Warwickshire: "It is 21 days from when they are offered the deal."

He added: "I'm running out of things to say to them. I've sat them down and said I will never stand in anyone's way.

"Sign your contracts, start the season with us and do well. If a big club comes in, fine, you'll go with our blessing and you can move on."

Republic of Ireland international Westwood has recently been linked with Premier League side Everton while local rivals Leicester City are rumoured to be interested in fans' player of the season King.

Thorn also confirmed captain Lee Carsley, Michael McIndoe, Stephen O'Halloran, Isaac Osbourne and Michael Quirke would not be offered new deals, but hinted Connor Thomas would be part of his plans next term if his proposed move to Liverpool does not go through.
Quirke finished the season in goal for Coventry and Thorn would not reveal why he had chosen not to offer the teenager a fresh contract.

"That's private between me and Quirkey," said Thorn. "But what I will say is that we'll help the boy and we'll help him move on.

"We want to take the club forward so it wasn't just him. It's tough because they're good lads.

"Connor's injured at the moment so he's back with us having treatment.

"What will go on from there I'm not sure. But Connor's one of ours and if he's still here he'll be around the first-team squad next year."

Nice to see that Marlon King's career hasn't suffered after his conviction for sexual assault and ABH. Suppose it's a bit much to expect football to display any morals.

Cant beleive this thread has only five replys, a terrific sevent and player for us, had a big say in the success we have enjoyed under Davey, top lad as well - we and the game will miss you Super Lee Carsley!

Bearing in mind I think I'm on here 24/7, I somehow missed this

What a man, he like Osman and Hibbert of years gone by, never would have been a player I'd put in my starting XI if all other players were fit. Arteta, Cahill, Gravesen, Fernandes, whoever else we had at the time would have probably got my shout to start. HOWEVER, this was only because I'm a sucker for someone who can pop a trick for no reason, Carsley was Mr Reliable, Mr Dependable, Mr No Non sense, Miss Independent, whatever you wanna call him, he was chuffin boss

I'd probably take him back now, no lies

I always remember after he signed, someone on a phone-in was going off saying "he is not of a standard to be playing for Everton and if we play people like him then we will go down."

I hope everyone that he expressed that view to has never let him forget it.

Damn right

Lee Carsley was a grafter, he made other players around him waaaay better by doing all the crap unsung hero bit. Moyes has quite a record of making players triple their worth, Carsley was certainly one of these, just minus the crazy high price tag

I loved Cars, me. Him and Gravesen were a baldly dream team.

Oh and he is -- without a shadow of a doubt -- the nicest man in football. He does tonnes for charity and also, he's just incredibly down to earth and always had the time for fans.

I'll never forgive the kopite scumbags who taunted him with jeers about his down's syndrome child. If I ever caught an Evertonian chanting things like that I'd kick the crap out of them, but somehow I don't think I'd ever find a blue doing that.

carsley was just an out and out workhorse, who fans took to because he put a shift in .ye he was a nice feller .but part from ian snodin .the biggest minge you could wish to meet
