It's having a knock on effect on grassroots clubs, who are no longer part of the food chain. When the talent they develop from a young age progress to professional football abroad, they don't get anything kicked down to them.
That is simply not true. If a player has been developed by a 'grassroots club' and then signs a pro contract with a loi club then the grass roots club recieves a payment from the loi club. The club is then entitled to a payment from every future transfer fee earned by that player any where in the world. 5% of every transfer fee is set aside and divided between all former clubs on a pro rata basis.
The days of selling kids to England at 14 are rightfully over and the SFAI and the clubs need to realise it.
The DDSL, CSL (Cork Schoolboys league) and the rest need to adapt and realise that things are changing. If they have a genuine interest in the game in this country they will do so but unfortunately it looks like the leadership of the SFAI and it's leagues are stuck in the past and that unfortunately will only hurt Schoolboys football in the long run

Newtown Juniors will receive absolutely nothing from the Mason Melia transfer. Bray and Pats will.

The LOI clubs are hoovering up all the young talent.

Another big Dublin derby tonight with Shels playing Rovers. Wonder if any thought was given to playing this at the Aviva as the Bohs Rovers game looked like it was a big success.

Drogs 1up on Rovers after 37 minutes.
Pats also 1 up on Bob's.
No score in the other two games.

Come on Rovers for flips sake. I know Drogheda have had a great start to the season but we can't afford to drop further behind. This is the third season in a row where Rovers sleep walked their early matches. In 22 we recovered and won the league, but last year fell just short at the very end.

.......Equaliser !!!! Aaron Greene.

Come on you Hoops!!!

FT

Rovers win 2--1 Burke with the winning goal. Drogs penalty given away by keeper McGinty but he then saved it in the 7th minute of added time. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Pat's 3-0 against Bohs
Shelbourne 1 Cork 1 after Cork had led
Galway 1Waterford -0

Rovers close the gap to 4 points with game in hand at home to Cork City. That's more like it though Drogs could have snatched a point in injury time.

Drogheda lead on 11 points followed by Pat's and Galway on 10, then Galway and Waterford on 9, Rovers on 8 with a game in hand over all those above them. Then Cork and Bohs on 6 (Cork obvs with GIH away to Rovers), then Sligo and Derry on 4 points each with GIH but that is against each other.

Gearing up to be another fascinating and tight season after last season's dramatic finale where 5 teams were in with a chance of the title right up to the end.
