Toure
Kompany
Boateng
Richards
Onuoha

Are all players who can play centre back. I got the feeling Boateng was brought in to replace Lescott? In which case he wont play.

For gods sake, even the other Toure can play centre back. I can't see a place for Lescott there.

And there is no place back here either. Go to the Arse is the answer. Interesting though why per the papers (Mail) wants Jags. Does that mean like us he rates Jags a better CB?

If he's got any sense..

Wouldnt want Lescott back here after the way he acted in the past.. He's getting paid too much (like most of shitty's player's) so just leave him there to rot.. Most people knew that he wouldnt be getting first team footie there, it was just about the pay cheque

If Arsenal wouldn't pay those kind of wages for the likes of Cole without a fee they will not stump up the cash plus wages for Lescott as English as he is- especially if they valued an absolutely better defender in Jags at under 15m 6 to 7 weeks ago. Lescott's still going to cost someone around 18m this close season- not good enough for the top teams abroad and no-one will stump up that cash at home- not even Spurs or Villa on this occasion- so he stays put for me- next year is a different matter altogether.

Joleon Lescott admits he is yet to justify Manchester City's show of faith, but has unwavering belief in his own ability.

The Blues parted with £24million last summer as they lured the England international away from Premier League rivals Everton.
However, a miserable debut season at Eastlands saw Lescott struggle to find his form, while a succession of niggling knocks kept him sidelined for prolonged periods and dashed his World Cup dreams.

The commanding centre-half has vowed to bounce back stronger, though, and is convinced that he can prove his full value to Roberto Mancini and the City faithful during the 2010/11 campaign.

"It was a long summer and very hard for me because I had ambitions to go to the World Cup," said Lescott.

"But injuries meant I couldn't go. That was hard to take but I'm trying to get back into it now and working hard.

"Last season was frustrating. I worked so hard to get the move and I feel I didn't repay the club as much as I would have liked. Obviously the injuries didn't help, but I'm fit now and I believe I can repay the club if I'm given the opportunities.

"I started training towards the end of last season and have kept that going all summer to get stronger. I watched a few of the World Cup games while spending time with my family and friends but the main focus for me was to get fit.

"Having to watch it on television didn't make the situation any more difficult. I took it that I was injured and that was the main reason I didn't go to the World Cup."

Lescott is also confident that he can tie down a regular role at City this season, despite seeing defensive recruits in the form of Jerome Boateng and Aleksandr Kolarov drafted in during a hectic summer of transfer activity at Eastlands.

He added: "I expected there to be changes, even if we'd got fourth place last season. None of us are distracted by that, because we know we're all going to have to fight for our positions at this club.

"Everyone wants to play in the best teams and work with the best players, and City are no different. They want to achieve great things and to do that they've got to buy top players.

"I don't think any player needs to go to the manager for reassurance, but if you believe you're training well enough and playing well, but are not then given the opportunities to play, that's when you'll speak to him.

"At this moment we've only played a few pre-season friendlies, we're still training and a lot of players aren't back yet, so it's difficult for the manager because he can't shape the team or the squad as he would like.

"The target last season was to get into the Champions League and we didn't do that, which was disappointing. This season the aim is the same. The goal is to get into the Champions League and if we finish higher than fourth, that would be great."

conveniently ignores the fact that when he was fit he wasn't picked due to a loss of form. Lets face it, players train harder and play better under Moyes tutelage. That is why originally championship players like Cahill, Lescott and Jagielka; have all gone on to be courted by other clubs willing to spend big bucks. And why these players are suddenly playing for their countries. Players lost in the football wilderness like Arteta and Pienaar, suddenly look world class. Its Moyes that is the true star at Everton. So **** the likes of Lescott. So longs and thanks for all the money.

Couldn't give two shits if he goes or stays at City. In fact, I think I'd prefer to see him stay and continue to be nowhere near the player he was in royal blue.

THIS! I couldnt care less and would never have him back here. Looks like he is going to rot in the reserves next year. (being British may help him warm the bench though). Lets concentrate on the Everton players we have and no one else!

Exaclty.

Lescott is not world class, he has the co-ordination of a baby elephant, just watch him.

We just liked him because we bought him cheap, made him better, and he played well in our TEAM under Moyes tutelage.

He wouldn't get in our team now anyway...hahahaha

it's stories like this that me feel warm. Serves lightening bolt head right....

am looking forward to next summer when the papers talk about Gosling demanding a transfer cos he still isn't playing centre mid

Its all true, Moyes is the true legend, not the players, what he has done with Lescott, Jags et al is nothing short of superb. I bow to you Sir David of Moyes.

Sorry to burst your bubble toffees but as much as you want to believe it Lescott has not (and probably will not) failed at Man City. He has played well, has had a couple of injuries but is a first choice CB when he is fit. He is further up the pecking order than K.Toure and looks very solid in central defence with Kompany. Mancini has already shown this season that, when fit, Lescott and Kompany are the first choice pariring with K.Toure shifted either to RB or the subs bench.

With regard to the new signings...Boateng is a full back who will most likely replace Richards and Zabba at RB and Y.Toure was a solid defensive midfielder who played in a champions league winning Barca side...I can't see us bringing him in to replace Lescott at CB can you?

As much as you might like to believe his career has taken a nose-dive since leaving your club, it hasn't.

It just has. No international football, constant injuries, below par performances. He played over 100 consecutive games for us, why hasn't he strung 10 together for you??

You say he's solid. For us he was sensational. Whoever says otherwise is lying. What prompted you to pay £20 odd million for him. Has he looked anywhere near the player he was for us.

Try and pick some some sense out of my incoherant ramblings, and reply in your own time

sorry to educate you (actually you patronising git I'm not) but as a City fan, you;ll have no idea what a good solid back four looks and plays like. Yours is still very much at the draft stage - which is why you keep buying more defenders. Lescott for what I saw, looked a shadow of the player he was for us. Maybe that's injuries or maybe his professional pride isn't so important now that he's got the 100k a week (oe whatever ridiculous wages you put your players on in order to attract mercenaries to your tin pot club.)

He'll be out the door if not this year then the next few. You'll have probably bought someone else for 40 million by then. Probably Heitinga.

There's no telling some people is there? Put simply...he is at a different club in a different position (he played mainly LB for you right). He might not be the Roberto Carlos he was at Everton but he's been good enough for us for me to say...thread over...Lescott is staying and is our first choice.

Wrong. Not in his last season.

Each to their own. Can we just agree he was a tit?
