Staff costs rose by 10%, so a decent amount, and we can probably expect that things will be more expensive this year with the new deals and all that. Interestingly though the OS are saying that profits before player trading were still £20m or so, which is nice, as we haven't spent all of the money yet. Of course, we have to remember that the club have to budget for the duration of the TV deal, as I think the money we get from Sky/BT is the same each year of the contract? If that is the case then it would be mad to blow it all in the first year.

Its the same each year. Remember when BT entered the market tv rights money virtually doubled

Yeah, well done Messrs Kenwright and Elstone. Well done for putting your hand out for that tv revenue every other club 'generated'.

Meanwhile, the commercial side of the club grew by a whopping £0.8M.

Bravo.

Remember when everyone was giving me grief saying we weren't buying Lukaku and others.

As we didn't have the budget?

I do. I was never worried. It was all in the FFP figures. :coffee:

Fantastic this. I wonder how much we'll see spent in January and next summer? Loads I expect.

And. again. my I take this opportunity to thank Bill and Robert for their sterling work in receiving the extra tv money. It took great business acumen, foresight and not a small amount of daring to generate that massive uptick in revenue.

Haha it's a big day for you mate, what are villa's figures like?

Not as good as Everton's.

Everyone just needed to stay calm.

The BT deal + Martinez was the best thing that ever happened to us.

As @davek says. We need to boost commercial revenue now. Then the long term future of the club will be unparalleled.

But relax. We do have a budget to buy players. It won't be OTT but itll be enough to bring us major excitement.

LOL. Arsenal haven't sunk yet. And Tamworth still have a higher net spend than us.

This all seems a little bit like a false gain to me. If you take out transfers I imagine we would've made a loss. With the Lukaku transfer and new contracts I think we might struggle to make anything other than a massive loss, even with the Europa league income. Im not trying to be negative, I just don't buy into the clubs new financial positivity. To me its either naive or deceptive.

Tv money revenue was larger than the entire year before - club revenue.

How can you make a loss on that?

Basically if we didnt buy lukaku , debt could be wiped out.

Few things here
1- due to huge tv deal the premier league clubs will begin to dominate Europe again after a few quiet years. Only 3 clubs can compete with PL Barca, Real n Bayern.
2- We are more attractive to a buyer now with profit and reduced debt
3- stadium must be priority given these figures and gives us best chance of financing it .

The 6th page? You're slowing down, Dave.

I have to say, it's good news, but hardly unexpected. Still, if any goodwiil from the board can be capitalized on in the January transfer window, it could yet prove fruitful.

Good analysis. Pressume you mean stadium + commercial revenue there.

Great to see figures like that , obviously bouyed by the massive rise in tv revenue.
But it shows the club in a very healthy position never the less.
Think its time to sit down with our sponsors & commercial partners , those revenue streams could & should be much higher.
Overall it puts us in a fantastic position when the cash rich clubs come calling for some of our great young talent,
knowing we dont "have to sell" puts us in a very healthy position. Yes very pleased with this audit.
