Chelsea in 2011 we took 6000 that was good when they only took 2800 to our place, I was there great day. I think we must of took like 50 000 for the FA cup final in 2009. We didn't take that many to Bolton in 2013, I think it was only 5000. We must of took like 8000 to the RS last year and about 7000 to Sunderland. I remember when we took like 7000 to Blackburn for the league game in 2007/2008, when Johnson got his goal disallowed. Our fans are some of the best away fans if not the best away fans in the league in terms of numbers and considering we haven't been that good compared to the RS, United, Chelsea, and Arsenal. I still remember the final in 2009, only like 1 Chelsea fan came to clap the coaches, the rest we all Evertonians. They were nowhere to be seen that day Chelsea fans. Can't remember hearing one Chelsea chant outside Wembley that day. Shame we couldn't win that day.

A couple of seasons back Southampton away was moved to Monday night late in the season. We sold the full away allocation and asked for more tickets, sold out them and another allocation after that.

Was that under Moyes? There was one back in about 2012 where we took about 1,700 initially which we sold out, then the allocation became over 2,000 and we ended up having over 2,500 there. The full allocation is 3,200 though so wasn't a full sell out but was an excellent turnout.

That kind of following highlights how good our away following is though and only a handful of clubs could match it or come close outside of the top clubs who have all enjoyed success/top 4 finishes in the last 10-20 years when we haven't.

January 2013. We brought more than the standard away allocation for it. A reporter outside the ground asked one blue what makes him make such a long trip on a Monday night in January.

Clubs don't offer more than a standard allocation in the league though. We only requested a small initial allocation, which was quite prevalent from the club before Martinez came in (the club underestimating our away support), we sold that out easily, then sold out the next batch and ended on just over 2,500.

An excellent following for a Monday night, and one not many could match in the circumstances.

I remember going to Bolton v Everton at the old Burnden Park ground in the 1977 League cup semi-final 2nd leg, when many thousands of blues travelled the short distance over there.
The tannoy before the game was strangely playing Hawaiian music to everyone’s amusement, whilst we were being pelted with rocks thrown into the away end from the railway embankment behind us.
Bob Latchford got our winner in a tough game, and we went on to play Villa in the famous long-running final at Wembley.
Got hit by a dart that night, it pissed down all game as well and the railway end didn't have a roof.

Plymouth Argyle FA cup 4th round 1975
We took 9 or 10 special trains to Plymouth from Lime St
On the same day Liverpool took 6 or 7 special trains to Ipswich also from Lime St
It was absolute chaos at Lime st with different queues forming all over the place, then the Everton fans chanting “we’ve got more trains than you”
Happy days
Along with my parents and brothers we were living in the Midlands at this time and we were catching another train from B'ham New St to Plymouth for the game.
As the Specials pulled in to New St at about 8.00 am loads of Evertonians were leaning out of the carriages asking to buy our morning papers, we raced up the escalators to buy dozens of papers to sell on (at face value of course) to the lads who had left Lime St before the papers had gone on sale, great memories!

League games like Wigan & Fulham were good when they used to give you the whole end or option to buy neutral. It does seem now though that with the TV money that's available teams would rather stick to the minimum 3,000/10% rather than give the away fans a lot more and take the empty seats instead.

Fa cup match at the dump last year, not rely an 'away' as such obv, but the face we had the whole road end and 6000 blues there, was an ace atmosphere that night.

Pity about the result as ever

Yep, nasty night that was. Was in the away end. The Town after the game was feisty.

Battle(s) of Liege all day and all night as I recall? Remember it kicking off at that last railway station in Holland on the way down?

Had its humorous moments though. 8 of us innocently walking into ‘their pub’ opposite (the battle of) liege railway station early afternoon and 150+ of them all went quiet. 8 of us having a pint and we sense it’s all about to go off when one of them comes up and declares “either you lot are incredibly brave or incredibly stupid?” to which we replied “do you wanna beer?” “Brave it is”. Few pints later and their ‘lads’ end up giving us all a lift to our hotel. Bizarre. Great travelling support tho

Oxlade Chamberlain said that was one of the best games he's ever played in and one of the best atmospheres, said the Evertonians were unreal with massive support.
