On Boxing Day you were calling 60+Pts... ( deffo, nailed on and I'm sticking with it ) no plus or minus ( which for the sake of argument I took as 63 ) you're now revising it down...well it could be 56 or 7

*hold lapels in best rumpole fashion...I put it to the court m'lud, that my learned friend is now backtracking summat wicked...and having realised, somewhat belatedly that his client hasn't a scooby m'lud.

explains 'scooby' to thick judge.

My learned friend is now scraping the barrel for that old scape goat...It's not his clients fault, It's the Goalies, Reffs, linesman, Injuries, john terry...
anybody except his client and his cast in tablets of stone, effin phenomenal, effin philosophy.

*points accusingly...and I further put it, that his client is guilty m'lud, guilty of learning NO lessons, guilty of making no real changes to address the goals flowing in our net...nor the goalkeeping situation, guilty of totally refusing to contemplate 'seeing the game out', plus all the other public statements that allude to basically...I'm right, no change.

* goes into Churchillian mode, one hand on lapel.
He stands conndemed,
by his own words,
He is guilty,
of nothing less,
than the reckless endangerment,
of the whole future,
of Everton F.C.

legal disclaimer; that last bit may not be strictly true and is there for dramatic effect and to wind up davek

short, less dramatic version ; davek just blinked...

he has seen (turns down chance to do Churchill again ) however briefly, that the man, with the philosophical tablets of stone, has in fact, feet of clay.

he did, he just blinked...It may not be the beginning of the end, but it is the end of the beginning ( quotes for everything our winnie )

edit; bet still stands
No mate. I've said all along that a I expected a 60+ point season and that it would be a good points haul if we did that in conjunction with a cup run. I've been, and remain, consistent on that. There was no "defo nailed on" about it, just an expectancy.

Maybe check back over the posts first next time? Always a good idea if you're trying to vault someone I find.

What can we get points-wise?

My guess is we'll get 30 or a couple of points either side of that.

If we do we're heading for about 8th, historically speaking.

Does that sound about right given the fixtures left?

As someone mentioned earlier, correctly, we are getting 2-3 goals in a game and STILL drawing or losing. I think its become a psychological problem now- bear with me- after going ahead a goal or two the everton players are now getting shaky knowing they have blown it often in that situation- meantime- instead of mentally drooping, our opposition redouble their efforts knowing how often everton have lost leads this season.

For me, it will be disappointing if we dont finish top 5- even with a capital one cup win.

Since we wont get CL football next year- we may lose key players- Stones i think would be ok to go (not as though our defence has been great this year anyway) for a nice price. But if we lose Deluef. , Barkley and or Lukaku .....

Could equally be said in light of the Spurs and City games that when we score one or none that we can manage to keep it tight and get something from games against good opponents.

yeah I know, I added the deffo nailed on bit myself as that's how it came across. but you knew that, so just to keep you happy I'll stick with what you actually said ( spoil sport )

If we take out the deffo nailed on bit, that might infer you can find no fault with the rest and thus agree

anyway

Boxing day you said I'm sticking with 60+pts.... now it might be lower...you blinked mate, doubt has, quite rightly, set in.

16 games to get to 57pts that's an average of 1.75pts per game and over the season we've averaged 1,3-ish

or put it another way
at 1.32pts per game we have now, we're playing 'like' a 50-51 points total team
and all of a sudden were going to average 1.75pts per game and start...as of now, playing 'like' a 66pts total team

nothing would please me more, because that would mean he'd learned lessons and was consistently applying them, not maybe doing it properly just to get through the city game away, but doing it like he meant it ...and that was all I and many others wanted
and to beat the rs in the final and to go on a run in the FA cup, I'd be happy with that too

in all likelihood it ain't going to happen, not the rs bit that's GOT to happen

as with all things time will tell

It'll be P16 W3 L2 D 11, finish on 49 points and commence massive fume. No cups either though I'd love to be wrong.

Plenty of very gettable points there. Win the Swansea and Newcastle games and sneak into the Cup final and confidence will be up. Still plenty of chances to make something memorable from the season, and this team is capable.
