Planning on a 10 day 'vacation' at the beginning of semptember.

Anyone been before and can reccommend the best hotels and websites/travel agents to get the best flights/packages?

I want to stay at the MGM Grand but just interested to know if there are any just as good but cheaper?

The Ventian is pretty good. I went back in 2001, so don't know the prices. And are you 21 yet KJ? If you aren't then don't bother if ou expect to gamble or drink.

the sahara is cheap but still a good hotel. Its not up to the standard of the high rollers but its cheaper and still 4 to 5 star.

It used to do the best breakfast on the strip as well - fired eggs, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausages, waffles, pancakes, oj, you name and all you can eat - all for about $3. The food in the casinos in vegas is offset by the money they expect to make from you gambling so is incredibly cheap.

In fact vegas is dead cheap if you dont gamble.

Another top tip if you are on a budget is move into a motel on the friday and saturday, People fly in from either coast to spend the weekend - so hotel prices go up - by getting the cheap week day and sunday deals and dossing down in a motel on the other nights you save a bundle.

but you must be 21. in the USA they are mad for checking ID's. Take it with you everywhere or be prepared to drink pop all night.

all this info at least nine years old.

i stayed there kj, fantastic hotel but i reckon they must all be up to spec., you end up goin' to a diff one every night to sample the buffets or breakfasts anyway.

Going in september to allow time for the youngest of us to turn 21 :D

wise move.

pace yourselves though. Drinking is 24 hours, they just don't shut the casino bars. If u plan on drinking try not to do any serious gambling at the same time. That way there be demons.

The casino's dont have any windows and famously dont have any clocks on the wall - so you can gamble and drink for hours at a time without knowing whether its day or night.

The bar at the top of the spire/tower thing is a good laugh.

I recommend the mai tai's - cocktails are the way forward for the dedicated professional vegas booze hound.

just watch out for them bats in the desert.

Going to Vegas end of Feb with my boyfriend, brother, his girlfriend and my mum and dad... for my 21st..staying at the MGM, can't wait...also going to Colorado skiing before we make our way to Vegas!

there are lions in the casino at the mgm, in a big glass enclosure, my daughter who was about 14 months old was nose to nose with this enormous beast through the glass.
although it's huge it seemed there was more to see in other hotels though, the rooms are themed ,ours was somethin like the clarke gable suite or somethin. again though it was 8 years ago, they rip hotels down and rebuild all the time. 1 was being all done up with a chinese theme so i asked the taxi driver about it and he said they were doing it like that and going to blow it up in a film. they have lots of expo's there, the tv one was this week, the electronics 1 is supposed to be mindblowing, when i went it was 'concrete week......all things concrete' and it pissed it down all week, they had their annual rainfall in the 1st day and then it just carried on. cant complain though really as it was a freebie.

Oceans 11? :D

I dunno if the lads will be up for it but I want to do the helicopter over the Grand old Canyon. Anyone done that?

After pricing it up the best I've got is MGM Grand for 10 nights @ £670 each, thats inclusive of flights, travel insurance and return transfers between hotel and airport, by limo ...

Whoah 10 days mate youve more stamina then me i managed five and i was done in after it!

I stayed at one of the chain joints just of the strip about five minute walk from Ceaseurs, saved a packet as it was just somewhere safe to throw the bags, i never actually made it to bed like! Everything there costs next to nothing as they want you to blow your wedge on gambling, food and booze is free etc!

Youl have a blast mate its a theme park for blokes!

Have stayed at the Venetian and Bellagio and thought highly of both of them.

MGM was nice.

Flamingo was ok. Not real excited about Imperial Palace. Stayed at the Sahara over 20 years ago. Is it still there?

Thinking of Vegas for our wedding this summer, got some details for it and speaking to them this evening.
