Reidy's Bottle Of Grecian

The Unobstructed View
my laptop is almost always plugged in, occasionaly it is used on battery power but tbh not that often. do they suffer from some kind of memory effect ? as mine only does about 10minutes now on battery power, is there any solution apart from buying a new one ?

the power lead came out, the battery ran out and i missed both saha goals at west ham:@

Theirs somthing wrong their reidy!! my laptop is a few years old now, an is always pluged in. I get about 2-3 hrs use when it's not. Im sure you can buy a new one for it.

If you read the section on battery care in the instruction manual you'll notice it warns you to drain the battery completely at least once a month or risk it deteriorating.
Doesn't always work. My old Vaio went from having about 2h of battery life to about 15 mins pretty well overnight.
The battery in my current Toshiba died completely after about 3 months - tuned out it was one of those dodgy Sony made ones that could have exploded and caught fire. Luckily for me it went toes up first - Toshiba replaced it for free.

Might be worth you googling the battery seriel number to see if there's any issues with it. I heard Sony had to recall another batch recently.

At least you're getting those 10min!...

My old Toshiba (I think) had no battery left whatsoever - if the plug fell out, that was it, instant death.

My last Fujistsu tried to pull one better, trying to kill me when it started spewing out noxious 'melting battery' fumes randomly, only noticed when I left the room and came back in.

Like most things, probably better to buy a new one than tempt fate and risk missing anymore football (or losing important work).

been looking for a battery and wow, they are way expensive, like 50 odd quid, is it possible to get the cells in it replaced ? i mean how many "AAA's" are in there, might nick a roadworks lamp and hook it up to that. will it keep going on and off though ?

it says this............
Caring for your Acer Aspire 1360 Series Laptop Battery

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][SIZE=-2]You can improve the life of your Acer Aspire 1360 Laptop Battery by doing the following:
When you first receive your laptop battery charge it fully for at least 6-8 hours and then discharge the battery fully by using your laptop unplugged from the mains until it runs down completely.

Repeat this 3 times to ensure your Acer Aspire 1360 Laptop Battery will give you the maximum performance.

If you regularly use your Acer Aspire 1360 Laptop on mains power for extended periods, removing the battery from your Laptop during these periods will extend the usable life of your laptop battery.

thing is you cant use it on mains with the battery off, if you could've done that i wouldve done it from the 1st day to avoid the battery being stuffed.

Is there some tool for Windows where I could somehow see the current maximum capacity / wear on a battery?
