I found this really difficult to adhere too at first but once you get used to not swearing it's actually great and makes for a much better read.

I really hate to go back on topic instead of chatting *insert word i'm not allowed to use*, but do the mods want us to report any cases of swearing or circumventing the swear filter?

From my viewpoint mate, it is up to you. Obviously if a post offends you, or perhaps uses multi swearing and/or is really over the top, then I would hope that would be reported anyway.

Any direct abuse of another poster should always be reported imo though. Dont know what the other lads think.

I really like this policy.

I went to check out the chelsea forum the other day and it is so much the opposite of this classy website. Many of them are using the forum for random ranting and namecalling. There was a thread (on Lukaku or Courteois, I forget) and the last three pages were just two 'fans' calling each other all kinds of swear words, once or twice interrupted by other fans who actually wanted to state something regarding the thread.

I think that if you allow impolite language on this forum you eventually hinder the dialogue between the fans, because one fan will be offended by another and then the verbal feud will ensue and the many insulting messages will clog the thread.

Plus there's already so much foul language, hatred and bitterness on the internet fora ... and it is just a game after all. It is the most important non-important fact of life.

Like broken windows, innit? :)

It's pretty ridiculous that swearing is forbidden anyway. It's an Internet forum, not the House of Lords.

I would like to agree with you because personally I don't see a problem with words...

Unfortunately advertisers do and they keep the site free so I am perfectly happy to abide by it!

Also, as mentioned, being able to use perfectly normal but frowned upon four letter words is a liberty that seems to go to peoples heads. Before you know it, we're all calling each other effing this and that and the entire forum loses it's atmosphere, which I have found to be very open.

Yeah no worries mate, guess you end up with loads of reports.

They come in bursts tbh mate. Never feel you shouldnt report a post cos we might be too busy to look at it.

I'm just wondering what would happen if every single member all reported the same post :D

But yeah, hopefully once you've had a bit of a crackdown there will be less posts to report that you'll all find them anyway.

Think we might break! In my short time as a mod, there are certainly posters who help us out regularly , like reporting stuff that isnt directed at them for example, which is really appreciated, cos it is impossible to see every single post made.

Thankfully, 99% of posts are sound.
