Landon Donovan press conference

I *believe* that figure was the buy-out price of his contract he just signed, endorsed by the MLS. The only wrench I can see is that the MLS might be retarded and demand more money because Donovan is such a big name here. If that's the case, then who knows?

If it sticks to the buyout numbers (6-7M pounds), I think Everton would be best served to actually make a request for a transfer. Hard to think you'd find a player of that caliber at that price.... Unless your scouting is routinely finding those South American players that no one's ever heard of that do well.

I believe from what grant Wahl tweeted that A. Landon has not ruled out going back to Europe despite his new contract and B. and MLS has always wanted Jozy Altidore type of money for him (10 mill). He also has a release clause in his contract. If Everton came up with 10-12 million they could get him.

That's in US dollars in Pounds I think it comes to 6.2 million pounds, who knows when the dollar goes in the crapper you could pick him up cheap.

While I agree, perhaps he stays just to stay fit for the World Cup as that would be a necessary evil

That might be the only saving grace but it would only be him from MLS as no other World Cup player who plays in the MLS would be in Europe at that time.
