I'm just watching Arsenal at Villa, and they're 2-0 up at half time. They've been dominating Villa just like we did when we went there -- with every stat.

And yet we lost, but they're winning. And both of their goals have taken deflections.

So, have we been unlucky this season? Arsenal have been no better today in any department than we were there, bar the goals of course, and yet they've managed to hit the net twice in 45, and we couldn't hit it once in 90.

Should we feel hard done by, or do you make your own luck?

I think it's more to do with understanding how to shoot.

I do agree we seem to never want to shoot, but then we did have something like 25 shots in that Villa game.

And Arsenal can no doubt be accused of the same thing, so that's why I'm highlighting them as an example.

Beat me to it. Not watching the game, but I can imagine they are at least getting the ball in dangerous positions. We're great until that point quite a bit of the time. Or if we do get the ball in the box, we don't have the people up there other than Timmy at the moment to make anything of it most of the time

At the end of the day (its going to be dark) it comes down to quality, as we have found out this season we can spank teams all over the show, but if you dont have a front 2 or three capable of hitting double fingers your going to be unlucky.

*Krul in!

The reason I'm asking this, is I've noticed a pattern with Arsenal. They often seem to get the rub of the green, with deflections and what not.

I mean, IIRC, we battered them in that 2-2 draw last season, but they got back into it both times with deflected goals.

And surely it's not a coincidence. Surely we're 'unlucky' for a reason. I agree we don't shoot enough when we should, but is that really the only reason, do you guys think?
