Lack of a striker isn’t our problem.

The failure to keep clean sheets is our problem. That centres on Jags and Williams IMO, they are to be bluint past it and should have been replaced. It has not been helped with Mori out, okay might not be the best but he sure as hell is quicker than the two just mentioned. Okay the CB aspect was partly addressed in the summer but not fully, down to RK imo. regading the back four aso not helped with Coleman being out and that useless Martina signed again down to Rk that one. For me Kenny needs to be given more game time to establish himself until Coleman's situation can be looked at. On the other side Baines is really not up to it, he goes forward and struggles to get back, no LB signed and Garbutt who might have helped not even in squad due to RK.

So yes the failure to keep clean sheets is the problem and that focuses on our back four. BTW not helped with RK messing about with 3 at the back, stupid experiment with the players we have.

If BFS or Dyche come in and possibly Simeone this the area they will prioritise.

We faltered simply because we lack a holding midfielder, not because we lack a striker. Once we loses possession up the pitch, there is nothing between them and our center backs, as our central midfield, whether under Koeman or Unsworth, is all over the place.

Maybe time to retrain Gylfi to play 10 yards back, at the base of midfield, and let Gana and our kids to do all the running?

Concede goals for fun, can't score at the other end. Says to me the whole caboodle is out of sync. We need both a CB and a CF no ifs or buts.

If you look at the sides in the top six they all have a top striker (bar maybe Liverpool). Doesn’t that tell you something?

We should have replaced a Rom with a top name (Icardi) for me personally. Now we’ve missed the boat as we don’t have the money nor would he come here with our current situation and the fact he is flying at present. Genuinely one of the biggest mistakes the club has ever made letting Rom go

Whilst it is a major problem, we literally create almost nothing on a game to game basis.

This isn't like when Jelavic went off the boil and was missing big chances every week, leaving us to bemoan a lack of a clinical striker.

This is much deeper.

If we could keep clean sheets or keep games down to 1-2 goals our season would be looking very different and then the lack of a certain Lukaku would be felt more.

We lack any energy in midfield. The opposition can stroll through at their leisure till reaching our geriatric defence and scoring.

Our medical team need to figure out a way to resurrect Mccarthy.

I actually think the lack of a striker is a huge part of the problem.
As its panto season both on and off the pitch...
Oh no it isnt - see yourman Brucie below
We got 4th spot with Marcus Bent up front. Lets not get carried away.
Disclaimer; read abar 5 lines of the pseudowham quoted
So anyway - back to basics is the cry
The game is won and lost in the midfield, always was, always will be.
Until we get away from what we have...3, 4, 5, 6, whatever number of individual different midfielders, your No.10's, 8's, defensive, left sided, rightsided, central, attacking etc.
Until we have a Midfield that attacks, defends, tackles, scores/shoots, chases (presses as its called now) as a whole

The attack won't get fed...even Bent (or Niasse) can score with proper service
and
The defence will alway be under pressure...how tight were we in 04-05
Edit; add to that - a fullback is only as good as the cover filling the space infront of him
