Leaving for this game in 15 minutes with the two eldest kids. For some reason Landon hasn't been returning my calls. Will speak to him about it later.

:P :)

Actually filled up well, but still a lot of empties

The Galaxy has a notoriously late coming crowd due to Southern California traffic - I believe on TV they said it was sold out. Recently HDC tends to sell out or come close for all the home games (average attendance 25K). Some games they have to open the adjoining hill (like for NY vs LA).

I sure hope you had a great time tonight:
2 Landon Donovan goals (again, should have had a hat trick - LD, I know you can round the keeper, come on bud!)
1 Juan Pablo Angel goal (boy it was needed)
1 David Beckham (TM) patented free kick goal

HDC must have been rockin' - sounded like it!

The only thing that kinda sucked was the opponent - Sporting KC is the bottom of the league, and thus, a blow-out versus the wonderful (wonderful!) NY-LA game.

But tell us - did you have a good time? How'd you like it? Was the HDC atmosphere and pitch solid? Did Landon return your call? ;)

I'm curious as to what you thought...

EDIT: Nope, I'm wrong - 19.8K in attendance, short of the average by 5K, so you did see empty seats Dylan - must have been the opponent.

My take on the whole thing. It was deffo home seats empty. They were empty all over the stadium, although it did fill up nicely. I was right by the section where they 'hardcore' fans are with the feckin' annoying drum and crap songs....I mean they were singing Happy Birthday to the ref......WTF???

The first half was lethargic. I am a better player than that. A crap own goal to give away and then Landon puts away a penalty.

Second half though was great! Landon finished a great passing move to score about 45 second into the second. When Angel came on he really changed the game. He was full of energy and tormented the KC back 4. And he skinned this dude right by us. It was hilarious. He also had a well taken goal. And then Beckham....didn't do much all night. Made a few half-assed runs and a few half decent crosses and then slams home a lovely freekick. Exploited the fact the keeper was crap and positioned for a cross.

I had a great time despite the lower level of footy on display, reminded me why I like football. Oh, and the atmosphere was a bit lethargic. And I came home with a sore throat. And MLS fans for the most part, have no idea.

That's pretty much how it looked like on TV - first half sleepy, and then whatever was said at the half, woke the Galaxy up (most likely - hello, you're a better team than this hair dryer treatment from Bruce).

Bummed it was lethargic though, and that MLS fans weren't up to snuff. Give 'em time. I do think this game was a little off after the excitement of previous matches. SKC is in the cellar, and thus - not exactly a motivating game. The Galaxy seem to have good fans. :)

Can you imagine what life will be like once this league gets better though? Good times ahead. Yay!

Thanks for posting - I got to live vicariously through you. :) Hope the kids had a good time too, and hope your Everton shirt was spotted!

Almost my exact words shouted out to him as he came over to our corner.

Sneaky suspicion it was tired legs from playing all 90 minutes of three games in a week (ow).

Whenever I watch him when he's on fire (7 goals in 5 games) I have a new appreciation for what he does for the league - which is usually put the team on his back and force them forward. It's amazing that he can play at this level, and then the USMNT, and then come over to the prem and succeed. I still hope he comes on loan in Jan to demonstrate his talents.

Why I'm a fan. :) But it's similar to why I love Howard and Stu Holden too.

I was in the Riot Squad which I assume is around where you were because JPA did that nice move right in front of us. We were lethargic tonight and so was the whole stadiums atmosphere. I'm not exactly sure why because the stadium is usually rocking.

We have been selling out every game but tonight was against KC which I guess this year has been known to be boring. That might be why some people chose this game to miss.

Anyways there were some nice goals and I hope you stayed after the game when Landon came up to us and did a Superman pose. LOL

I don't know what us MLS fans have no idea about but we like our team just the same. thanks

Just caught a bit of this at my friends house. Nice free kick by Beckham, and yes, Donovan should have got a hat trick!!

Angel just looks odd with short hair!

I was about the same row as zombie, but in section 140 2 rows back from the box up front. And yes, we stuck around until Landon went down the tunnel, was hoping he would see my Everton shirt and point at me or something, but he never looked directly at us.

As for MLS fans having no idea, I meant, from the other fans around me saying some ridiculously absurd comments about plays, calls and whatnot. "Thats a red card, RED CARD" when the SKC player clearly took the ball etc etc. Just frustrated me a little.

And I can't abide by the drums you guys use. I hate them and always have. A cheap way to try and generate atmosphere. But that is just my opinion.

I have been to Goodison many times in my past, and Even when Galaxy scored it doesn't come close to what a packed to the roof Goodison crowd *can* be like. Nothing comes close to it, not even being in an 80,000+ crowd at an NFL game.
