Spurs cannot be held responsible or made to feel guilty for stepping in to sign Naughton, it is not as if the lad signed a pre-contract agreement with us. In my opinion, we have again acted too slowly allowing others to pick off our transfer targets. Will we ever learn??

Made up rumour IMO.

At a guess terms were agreed by his pushy agent. He then had to turn up for the medical which he swerved on the basis that spurs were a bunch of no marks. But I have no source for this.

Steevie, I'm not stalking you, well, ok, on this ocassion I am. Tell me, from my information the bid was accepted on Thursday. My understanding is that the player was on holiday in Malta. A family holiday. He was due back to talk to us on Monday the following week.

Tell me, how could we have moved faster to seal the deal?

He wasnt on a family holiday, he was on a pre-season tour with his club.

So either: his agent, acting more as his pimp, agreed terms with a club that his client told him that he didn't want to sign for, and the player (rather than simply inform the club that he didn't wish to sign for them) simply didn't turn up for his medical without warning.

Some bloke on a Sheff Utd forum made it up.

I know which one I think required the least assumptions.

Steevie, is it your opinion that most players sign for (other) clubs as soon as an offer is accepted, and without waiting to see which other clubs are interested?

I cannot answer that one mate, all i can say is stop stalking me. :lol:

On a serious note, if we want a player that badly, it surely would'nt be too much of a chore to have one of our representitves to meet him in Malta, simples.

Sometimes this rumour mongering just gets surreal. A poster on a SUFC forum says that an anonymous mate has texted him to say that Naughton has failed to turn up for a medical at Spurs. Within minutes it's being discussed on EFC forums as though it's fact, although there are no other sources for this story, probably for a very simple reason - ie there's no truth in it whatsoever.

OK, thanks for that correction. My point still stands. We didn;t know that Sheff Utd would rat on us. How could we have tied this up quicker, espcially given that he would have had to come to us for a medical, even if not for negotiations, which I am to told was done.

Also, the spurs intervention came on the friday, the day after our bid was accepted and we were refused contact with the player who was out of the country if I am correct. How could we have moved it any quicker?

Answers on a very small postcard would be nice. The only reason why I am badgering you is that I hate supporters who make unsubstantiated claims which they can't back up.

Back up your claim or keep schtum. And yes, I apologise for being a bit internet hardmanish, goes against my nature.

What i am saying is that any transfer targets should be signed in principal at the earliest opportunity, ie shortly after or just before the season. Instead, we allow others to be informed of our activity. I honestly cannot give anybody any concrete facts but the same can be said to each and everyone of us, what i am certain of however is that we are completely useless in the transfer market.
